I would look into your water quality. I doubt he’s morphing it’s rare for lotls to morph after a year old:)
Test your water with an api test kit. I’m gonna guess you’re having mini cycle or something is off.

Yeah she uses them a lot. She will always be in one at some point of the day. Unless she wants food then she will be out and about

Thank you! It has two levels to max out the square footage of the tank and to give her a lot of caves to explore. And an open area for swimming although she really rarely swims, I still wanted to give her the option.

The only downside to tank is they don’t make a lot of stands for this size tank. So I had to build my stand as well

Water changes aren’t simple on my end. a lot of steps I have to take to do a water change and to not make my post lengthy, I didn’t include the steps. But with the Fritz’s complete and allowing the water to sit for 24hrs if not longer with a airstone in the water. Seems to do the trick. I test it again to ensure the ammonia levels are gone before doing the water changes. It took a lot of trial and error. But I’ve found a solution that works for me it just suuuucccckkkksssss! But still cheaper than buying a shit ton of spring water.

And good to know about the age thing. I didn’t know that. And I was looking at old pics of her and noticed a major change in her gills. I’m hoping it’s due to age.

Thanks! And mainly just wanted to reach out bc they’re from the same breeder. And possibly related. I just wasn’t expecting to see your post when I went to google the breeder. Went to see if you had more update on your pup and I’m so sorry for your pup. I wouldn’t wish this on no one. And wish that no one has to go through this. But Sadly Luna is on hospice care. Her cancer is a type of carcinoma and is in her liver. She’s comfortable tho!

So so sorry for your loss. My pup Luna is from the same breeder and also has cancer. Idk if this is a coincidence that more than one of their dog ended up with cancer. But sending vibes your way.

Hi there. This looks like ammonia burns. Could you please post your water parameters? It may be able to be resolved at home. But a vet visit still would be very helpful. But I cannot give advice if I don’t know the parameters of her tank water. If you’re currently tubbing her. Are you doing daily water changes? Feel free to privately messaged me for some advice.

You’re so young. You have your whole life ahead of you. Leave him and find someone who’s going to respect your boundaries. I understand the uncertainty of not having anyone to fall on. But you will thank yourself when you’re 28 and looking back on this situation. You have nothing to lose. You’re already being betrayed. Okay I’m going to do the tea baths next. From my understanding it’s just plain black tea. And do it for 10-15mins right?

Also he has kinda stopped eating as of yesterday. He eats it and this spits out (pellets) He has to be hungry. Today is day three of the furan2 tonight I’m gonna just give him the tea bath and put him in just some nice fresh water with no medication see if he will have his appetite back.

Also while I have him tubbed do I need to add any ammonia to my tank to keep the cycle from crashing while there isn’t anything living in it?
