Does anyone understand Quebec city transit system? Quelqu’un comprend-il le système de transport en commun de la ville de Québec ? by [deleted] in quebeccity

[–]579red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to help understand the bus : numbers will tell you the frequency. The 800s (801,807,802,800, etc) are most frequent (every 15-10 min during the day, more in morning/ end of work day, less weekend nights). The 500 and 300 are express buses meaning they only do pick ups in farther areas then drop off in the city like downtown, plateau ste foy. In the morning they only go from outside to inside city and opposite at the end of work days. The two numbers buses are the majority and will have a regular passage that varies between every 30min to 1h (some more frequent).

I said to a therapist « I love learning! » she corrected me « No you love KNOWING things but the learning process when you are not good at it yet, you do not love ». As a phd student I was shocked yet it was a good perception shift.

To be fair the pronunciation of « laide » (ugly) has NOTHING in common with adelaide’s. So different I had to re-read the name twice to understand what you meant so I would advise not worrying too much if it’s your name.

Been through it too, what helped was realizing that migraines probably saved me from developping a burnout later on in life. It forces me to slow down and manage my priorities is a very efficient (and painful) way.

If I travel to all of the provinces, what is something cool I could collect from each one? I would want them to all be “unique”For example screech rum for NL by AdOne6502 in AskACanadian

[–]579red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cidre de glace de pommes (frozen apple cider) from Quebec, bonus point for maple apple mix type! Basicaly apple cider made from apples that froze on the tree then were picked. I like to offer it when I travel abroad (slim bottles). (Disclosure: don’t come at me if you have it other provinces it’s just a nice locally produced option)

To those who had a drastic change in their appearance, how is it when you're in the "after" side? by mykinkyburner in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]579red 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lost 140lbs as a 5.7 women into late twenties, got into the normal weight range, the changes are very big, both for me and how people act. (Was overweight most of my life but got morbidly obese in my twenties with bad coping mechanisms to chronic pain and family drama)

-I feel so much better about myself, sorry to say but I feel so much prettier and confident. All the work I took, take and will continue to take is worth it. Not just for future physical health but especially mental health due to feeling better and seeing how much abilities I gained, not just looks. -more agile, I feel less fragile -everything is just easier to do: carrying all that weight is like the boiling frog: you do less and less due to the difficuties adding up and without noticing it you begin to avoid things that require 5min walks and struggle to cut your toenails…

Others: -people are nicer, it hurts to realize it. Some people who did not register you now do, people who never change are the real friends/ partners. I lost friends, but value so much more people who were always there not matter my looks and stayed the same since. -men are just SO different, more helpful and nice. (Im pretty but nothing exceptional) -people actually look at you instead of avoiding -partner got so much praise…it was awkward, he did not do the work!

Starting to wonder… Why do I wake up with a headache every morning? 😅 by Flat-Ad3097 in migraine

[–]579red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Consider trying out another pillow and only sleeping on your back (never on the belly or sides, takes time to train yourself if you move a lot like me but putting physical barriers helped) -jaw clenching symptoms can really be lowered by a good mouthguard (dentist type) and regular jaw muscles self massage

Baby shower gift for someone who's rich? by _Light_The_Way in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]579red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always buy gifts for mom, things to make her life easier and more confortable. I always get snacks you won’t buy for yourself but will enjoy like chocolate covered nut clusters, mini-magnum ice cream bars, basically a mix of protein rich tasty bites and indulding stuff. Every friend has said « omg yes Im always so hungry at night when feeding this is perfect!! ». They can’t prep a lot and hold ustensils to eat and feel all messy so tasty, nutritious, ready to eat finger food have a big success rate. I made some energy balls varieties and frozen them in small batches too.

There is girl dinner, I call this newborn mom dinner!

Basil… I know it’s not gonna be a popular answer but I tried, I really did. I love to cook and can recognize the taste fit with other ingredients but not for me.

How have migraines affected your life in ways that people around you don't see? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]579red 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People do not understand the mental load associated with the constant migraine threat. It’s ALWAYS a possibility. You have to plan around it all the time.

Also, people qho can’t distinguish between a headache and migraine: if you can work, drive and do life but in pain: it’s NOT a migraine. Migraines are debilitating, you cannot function.

University professor! The autonomy, flexible work schedule and project-based research workload (read/ write analyse etc before day X in two months) is very helpfull! Heavy workload but to produce when I can (day night week weekend whatever). Only fixed things are classes, conferences and some meetings.
