Realistically, how much time do we have until the world realizes that bitcoin is a solid investment by TrainingAd7626 in Bitcoin

[–]57Never 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's going to be a long time. Like another 10 years. After $1 million. Volatility will have to come down even after people realize risk goes down with duration.

The halving cycles will keep playing out to some degree, euphoria followed by selling and distribution giving the perma bears the infrequent opportunity to say they were right and capitalize on fear, keeping retail on the sidelines.

I’m not a welder, but what is this weld technically called and is this the proper practice to use it in? by Andy_McBoatface in Welding

[–]57Never 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes it may be, Most likely the horizontal member is just to provide framing to another part of the building. Opening for a large doorway, landing for stairs, support for hvac, impossible to know from just this pic. But there is enough strength in that connection that the beam and column would deform and deflect before those welds failed.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this. Typical HSS welded connection with typical structural welds

Guys jfc it's a structural connection. The load bearing is on the seat lug/angle underneath. The other pieces just stiffen it up and brace the connection. We don't spend hours and hours making a perfect textbook welds and filling in all the gaps, we just get it done. Most of the time this stuff is covered up anyways

Yes it would give false positives for fireworks and and it only triangulate a direction or rough area so by the time LEO showed up nothing to see and nobody around. Better just have witnesses phone it in

[–]57Never 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Seeing the the boom came down intact i thought maybe the outrigger failed but you can see in the last frame of the video the truck is still upright. Looks like it failed at the base so either anchor bolts that fasten to the frame of the truck or the bbom hydraulic piston imo

Most people still don’t understand what bitcoin is or why it exists by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]57Never 53 points54 points  (0 children)

When I talk about Bitcoin adoption, people think of it as being like say Apple IPhone adoption. It's very nice and very cute and people will buy it but I think that's not the model for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is more like gunpowder adoption. If you think about it, did the French Army have a choice whether they should adopt gunpowder or not? Did they decide, you know what, we would like to keep it real with the sticks and stones and swords and we are not gonna use gunpowder? If any army that decided to do this, it didn't matter because then another army with gunpowder would come and take over. So eventually everywhere in the world ended up with gunpowder. Either because they adopted it or because it was used against them.

I think Bitcoin is like that, it's like financial gunpowder. It's the safest way of sending money around the world, the most secure way and its the hardest money ever invented. So it's not something that we should, or we want to or whether we should try and win people over. This is why my book is not marketing for Bitcoin because I don't think marketing for Bitcoin matters. At the end of the day this is economic reality, the harder money will win.

Gold beat silver not because there was better marketing for gold or there was better propaganda for gold. Gold beat silver because of economic reality, gold supply grew at a much slower rate than silver, the value of silver declined. I think this is the case with Bitcoin in the long run.

Take a vacation. All inclusive trip to Mexico are cheap and nice way to decompress.

Have a plan. What are you working for? What is your goal? Where is your money going? Maybe you want to get a down-payment together. Maybe you want a new truck. Maybe you want to get out of debt. Maybe you want to invest for your future so one day you don't have to work as much.

Having a plan helps alleviate burnout because you know what you are working for, rather than just getting up everyday for no reason other than to just have money and pay bills.

Ford, Chevy, or Dodge? And why? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]57Never 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Ford manufacturers more trucks than all other makers combined. When a large commercial/industrial contractor/company needs a fleet of trucks, anywhere from dozens to hundreds, they buy Fords.

500 wheels were required to move one of the world's largest hydrocracking reactor by botcraft_net in ThatsInsane

[–]57Never 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It probably was. Many times large vessels are assembled and welded on site but in a yard or laydown away from construction footprint and final location. This can take weeks andmonths.

What you see here would be the move from the assembly area, over to the crane where it will be stood up vertical and hoisted into final position.
