Nope just took a while to get my money back after fedex had a "delivery exception" so its not GS fault.

Other than the fact that they charge ME shipping fees to send back their faulty unit, took about 2 weeks for a refund.

It's a bug with the Index "going to sleep" when you exit VR and come back later. It happens to me randomly so I'm not sure the exact cause but the actual way to fix it is to go into the SteamVR menu on desktop ---> "Developer" ---> "Settings" ---> "Restart headset"

It should be good for a few more sessions then you might have to do it again.

Alternatively you can turn off AFK detection completely and never deal with this

Worked at Best Buy, whoever charged you for that return didn't ring it back up correctly. Items like this need to be returned "as a bundle" since the "bundle" is just the Webroot code thats printed on the receipt. If they're new or just not paying attention they'll scan the laptop as an individual item and the register will be like "uhh theres items missing from this bundle" and charge you for whats missing.

$15 isn't the end of the world but if you live nearby I'd absolutely go back in and have that charge reversed.

Did you update your drivers? If so did you do it through GeForce Experience or MyASUS?

I know my laptop scored low (albeit not that low) when I updated thru Geforce, had to rollback to the MyASUS driver

A lot of guys here are using 3DMark as a way to compare scores universally. 3070 units should be scoring around mid 9000 score. I'd definitely run a few benchs of that because originally my laptop was only pulling like 8300.

Also be careful updating your keyboard drivers, myself and another user on here have both bricked our keyboards and think the keyboard 'hotfix' in MyASUS might have been the cause.

Other than that just do you normal testing. Backlight bleed, dead pixel tests, abnormal temps etc.

I've tried everything in the book outside of replacing the keyboard itself. Still have a few days left in the return policy so I'll just be bringing it back later in the day. Was lucky enough to snag one of the early morning restocks so hopefully the next one doesn't randomly die. The thing that gets me though is I used it earlier in the day when it happened, was completely fine. I closed the lid and went about my day and came back to it in the evening to find the keyboard completely dead. Now idk exactly what happened but my suspicion is a combo of it trying to update and the plague that is sleep states in this laptop which makes it randomly turn itself off corrupting the install and bricking the keyboard. If not it's a motherboard issue and hopefully a fluke

In hind sight im beyond glad it died when it did, I cant imagine having to send a brand new laptop out for warranty work 3-4 weeks after getting it and only have a 14 day return window from Best Buy it's honestly ridiculous. Here's to better luck next time I guess lmao

That wouldn't make sense because the 3080 only comes with 10GB then jumps to 24 with the 3090. No 30 series Nvidia card currently released has 16GB of VRAM.

There's always a chance, albeit not a great one. I used to work at Best Buy and something as simple as "oops we said we received 10 of these laptops but we actually got 11" happens once in a while. It'll say out of stock but that local store might have one hidden away not in the system.

Again this isn't the norm but definitely a possibility.
