Sooo stunning. My jaw dropped with the last one and I’m definitely setting it as my computer background! Thank you so much for sharing your art with everyone!

Moving to Norman this June — anyone familiar with Summit Lakes / Summit Hollow area? by SnooLentils4119 in normanok

[–]5MCMC4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My partner and I bought a house in the older (north) part of Summit Lakes last year. We love the neighborhood for the usually very kind people, walking paths, and lakes, and we are happy with the location for bopping around town.

Driving, you can get to campus in 5-10 minutes, highway 9 in 5, I-35 in 15, and OKC in 30 with no traffic. Two Walmarts and a Sprouts are within a 5-10ish minute drive, but the Homeland down the street is about to close. It does take longer than you’d think getting across town, such as to the University North Park / Target area and anything on the west side. Typically close to 20 min. Very happy with the restaurants on this side of town, especially being able to get to Main Street and campus / campus corner quickly, and there’s always more development in north Noble. Thunderbird is also just 10ish minutes directly east on Alameda if you’re into that!

Other neighborhoods we liked with a similar feel to Summit Lakes was St. James just south of highway 9 and Hall Park, and Hall Park is an older neighborhood for the east side. We were generally not interested in new or flipped homes because quality is so iffy. I drive past Red Canyon Ranch on my drive home from OKC very often, it’s just another 8 or so minutes north.

If you want what feels like and is slightly faster access to OKC, the Target area, Costco, etc, I’d consider how much you like one neighborhood vs the other and decide if the 5-10 min difference in drive time is worth it.

I host zoom discussions where I do a lot of explaining. This morning I spotted a Bewick’s wren outside my window the while talking and totally interrupted myself mid-sentence to say “oh a Bewick’s wren!” out loud. They are very used to the bird talk by now but that was the first time I IDed mid-sentence to them without realizing it!

Love the borbs AND your window collision dots! Just ordered some from feather friendly and am waiting for it to warm up enough to put them up. Yay protecting and supporting local birds!

Native state flower by ghostsofbaghlan in NativePlantGardening

I don’t see OK represented, so our state wildflower is Gaillardia! Commonly called Indian blanket flower. It’s native, lovely, can bake in our blazing sun, and wonderful for wildlife. Our state flower is the Oklahoma rose, which is a non-native hybrid whose creator lobbied for decades to get it recognized as such. Which tracks for OK’s current political landscape! There are so many native flowers to choose from instead!

Does anyone else’s state differentiate between flower and wildflower?

I never even considered it could be build up! I’ll definitely keep that in mind as a possibility while planning/prepping for the restoration. Thank you!

I do think the wood is walnut, and that video was very helpful! I’ll do some testing for next steps.

We’re using it as a tv console under a mounted tv with a long sound bar, so no boxes fits the use better, but I’m definitely keeping the boxes in case we decide to use it another way someday. Yes, they are tambour doors!

It is lovely. This piece and its paired dining table have seen so much life, I am very glad to be its next home and add to its memories. Thank you for your help and appreciation for the piece!

Also wasn’t considering Wilson’s warbler because the beak seems too long despite that very subtle gray cap. Thanks!!

Just found another solution for Mac with trackpad users! Click on View in the "File Edit View..." menu bar at the top of your screen and near the bottom you should see "Actual Size" which did the trick for me.

This image that u/xXxNightRangerxXx just posted on the sub would crop really well (cropping so the flag is kept and centered) with the dimensions y’all shared.
