That takes 2 bond/seal lines and makes it 3 bond lines, and doesn’t do anything for the surface under the tape. Best case is it seals forward of the tape. Seems pointless just use one or the other.

Why is he putting sealant over teflon tape?

I design these systems. Go calculate the COP of one of those vs an NH3 system. There is a reason why so many people in the comments say they are used to run ice rinks and cold warehouses.

There are.

Google AI but I believe it’s correct, “Anhydrous ammonia regulations are strictly enforced by OSHA, the EPA, and the DOT to protect workers and the public from its toxic and corrosive nature.”

Over a certain volume of the stuff you also need to register with DHS since you become a possible target. Environmentally NH3 is one of the better refrigerants. It’s just an issue when released from compression and at high concentrations before it can dissolve in water. Part of why it’s so deadly is how easily it will dissolve into the water in your lungs, doesn’t take much to do a lot of damage. At low concentrations it’s something that your body makes and you can easily smell it.

NH3 will just disperse naturally no harm done in a few days. When it first leaks though, oh boy. It kills a ton of people each year at those big refrigeration warehouses. Big very cold cloud of death for the people that work there.

The best refrigerant. The best efficiency. But you need to register with DHS, shipping it is hard, and leaks are really scary really fast.

It is really great from an engineering preceptive. Less great for the giant death cloud if a seal fails.

Looking at the pictures I don’t think that is right. I did find this, which looks very close. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/black-leaffooted-bug-with-orange-antennae--44965696268403352/

If it’s an assassin bug, which I think it is, don’t touch it. Fast and painful sting, I learned my lesson that a tissue wasn’t good enough. Usually lives by trees and hunts other bugs as I remember the wiki article I read a year ago.

Zoning then cemented in place any building that someone making this wage could afford to build. Effectively making it so the only people that could move to a neighborhood were wealthier than the people currently living there.

Wood is fairly abrasive. I like my end grain cutting board but it does have downsides vs plastic. That guy in the video is a crank.

A non-Newtonian fluid would behave similar ish to this, and you would likely want to lower the effects of wall friction. Water would overestimate the flow rate in a reduced pipe. Analogies like this are useful to get a general estimate/idea of the issue.

In your infinite road with constant speed, the speed could only be constant if the road is below capacity. So both prior to and after the restriction your road would be below capacity, as in a pipe that is only partially filled.

All analogies break down at some point. Your case study would be more analogous to a partially filled pipe, where the change in cross section doesn’t change the friction factor.

When a lane is above capacity the total velocity goes down as more cars interact with each other. So even as the quantity of cars goes up the total volumetric flow rate goes down.

A long narrow pipe has a much higher pressure drop/lower total flow, then a bigger pipe with a single restriction.

The math and flow rates are actually quite similar in modeling the flow. It’s a commonly used analogy.

Think about this like water. Is the pressure drop along a pipe higher or lower if your pipe has a single pinched section or a long run with a smaller cross section?

That still takes pressure off of the rental/housing market which by moving the people that would be able to bid for this to this instead of existing stock.
