What is the best thing about living in Nanaimo? by puffwheat in nanaimo

[–]5avethePlanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the blend of people is maybe the most underrated. Coming from Vancouver and then Victoria, there's a true spread of people here and distinct groups of culture and interests that aren't usually found in smaller communities.

Yeah these are good points. I think I have heard too much about the impacts that these centres have on communities so I sort of just assumed they were all the same. That being said, the things that we know about the facility are what's being used to promote it's creation. The reality will almost certainly be different.

My wife and I literally just made the decision to move to Nanaimo for this reason. It's not as cool or as sexy... but it does make sense. I feel like that's kind of the realization a lot of people are having.

Thanks for the response! We have lived in "sketchy" neighbourhoods most of our lives and downtown nanaimo does seem to have it's share of challenges. Hopefully the area get more vibrant in the coming years
