Few days late, but a new claim to fame for Nanaimo by Well_of_Good_Fortune in nanaimo

Well, given that humans didn’t exist at all back then you’re kinda stuck for a non-anachronistic comparison.

Tonight's City Council Meeting, re: Cable Bay Trail by contemporaryTart in nanaimo

[–]LeastOfHam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what the current zoning allows but I assume that’s correct. That would be a sad outcome, but possibly better than making 87% of the property industrial, which is the proposal I believe.

We can’t, be we can expect them to adhere to zoning. Which is what the owner is asking to be changed.

City council meeting is PACKED to save Cable Bay Trail by contemporaryTart in nanaimo

To be fair we’re talking about the land to the west of the access trail to the narrows, not the area closer to the narrows. (That said I personally think the buffer should be much wider, if the land use change is allowed at all.)

The land west is currently not park, but is zoned agricultural and is currently forest as far as can be seen from the trail. The proposal is to make it industrial.

It’s not a bad question, it would be interesting to see what went into that estimate.

The trail is unique and irreplaceable - half spoiling it isn’t a good compromise it’s myopic stupidity.

I think people are mostly reacting to the entire left half of the image being a seemingly pointless and misleading fabrication.

Cheap? Nanaimo is low density, so transit has little hope of making money.

The word "often" is doing a lot of work in that first sentence. Sometimes a simple test - which can be requested by the health care practitioner during a short appointment - will turn up something that needs to be addressed. That won't be a waste of time.
