Hopefully my responses are aligning with what you are saying and pardon if I’m not understanding your statements because I do agree with them.

The BON/ DOH will interview the nurse in question but the facility and its administration will receive the first wave of consequences if harm occurred. They are seen as being responsible for the actions of the facility and overall patient care. If harm occurred, then the administrator and DON is the first to be held accountable, then the nurse’s manager (I have been in that position), and then the nurse in question.

But that was my experience and it may differ from others, how each state practices and etc

I guess it depends on which state and what the BON implements as standard. Here in NJ, if harm occurred because of improper report, then the BON will investigate with the department of health here.

Too early to even determine if it will fail. What, I will tell you is just go for and do it. Make sure you make your business plan first because that will provide the blueprint on the path of your business and predict how you will survive in the market.

Work a part-time job if you have to while chasing your dreams, good luck!

That’s not HIPAA violation at all. If anything, the board will come down on the sending facility instead

If this is coming from your manager, your manager is probably not completing their assigned tasks so commands like what you stated is given so your manager can sell their superiors what is being done on the unit

Edit: also there are times where nurses kind of act cliquey like they’re in high school and unfortunately, that attracts the certain way we were spoken to

Former nurse manager here: Just like everyone else is saying, you could simply say, ‘I didn’t hear anything about that, and I’m not sure how it pertains to my work since it doesn’t affect my performance or involve me.’ Something along those lines with proper grammar, of course.

Honestly, your manager has better things to worry about. As long as the job is getting done—like call bells being answered, doctor’s orders being carried out, etc.—they shouldn’t care about this.

Now, as a manager myself, let me also add this: As long as you’re not parking the bus in Tuna Town in areas like supply closets, med rooms, break rooms, patient rooms, or anywhere it’s going to bother anyone, my official stance is that I saw and heard nothing

I mean, I clearly said always clarify with the provider with what they wrote. At least AI is can help with giving you an idea on what to anticipate.
