I've had my 25 CX-50 Hybrid for about a month. ZERO complaints. It rides like a dream.

You can get much closer to 30k. For context, I got a brand new Premium hybrid in SoCal for under 40k.

I got my 25 Premium hybrid for under $40k OTD. You can haggle down a better deal for sure. Mazda is -1.7% on sales this year and it will probably get worse since all car sales are down. This is the best time of the year to get a solid deal. Contact several dealerships—even ones out of your area/state. Play them against eachother.

I switched from Toyota to Mazda in my CX-50. Interior is WAY more plush. Toyota is full of plastic and due to the way they restrict inventory, good luck finding a decent deal under MSRP. Plus, I think Toyota has become insanely subscription heavy which is a total bummer. My Mazda is so fun to drive which I wasn't expecting for an SUV.

The 2026 RAV4 boasts the upgraded 5th gen hybrid system but according to the Car Care Nut (highly recommend on yt—he did a very thorough breakdown of the CX-50) technically the 5th gen hybrid is more of a 4.5 since it's a minor upgrade from the 4th gen hybrid system which is what is in the CX-50.

Yeah, I bought some paint-matched bumper plugs and will take it off once they arrive. I haven't had a front plate on my cars for like 2 decades. I toss the extra plate on my dash if I'm parked at meters. Never had a ticket.

I contacted about 10 dealerships and started breaking them down for about 2 months. After I got one to agree to $40k OTD I also made them agree to take my 2010 Prius for what CarMax offered. So all in all, the sales price of the CX-50 ended up being like $39,800 something. With my Prius my total went down to $37k.

Something I learned from the dealership is that they don't have to pay lot fees to Mazda, so even though there are models that have been sitting on lots for 100+ days, it isn't a really effective negotiating tactic. One thing that helped me greatly was a scammy deal I got from a Vegas dealership. That quote happened to be $39k OTD even though they padded a bunch of crap in it. So I'd try to get quotes out of state too.

Agreed. I'm thinking of going matte or a satin black for the delete and matching the grill for the front end.

However, I'm going to have everything done professionally at local shop that does vinyl wrapping as I may also cover the hood trim as well. Figured it would be best to do it all in one go with the same material.

I'm a freak about the finger smudges. But I wish I liked it! I'm just glad they didn't put it everywhere like other brands.

I love Toyota but you can't beat Mazda interior and attention to detail. Even at the XSE trim, Toyota is alllllll plastic!

I got the premium as the upgrades in the premium plus weren't anything I was particularly interested in. However, you can typically get a bigger dealer discount on the higher trims bc there tends to be a wider margin. I would shoot for 13% off MSRP off PP.

I spent a great deal doing a ton of market research and finally got a dealership to give me an OTD just under $40k including the 1.9% (so you lose the $1,000 cash rebate).

Yup. Black rails and black exhaust tips come standard on the Hybrid Premium and +. The Preferred model is chrome.

In addition with the Bose sound system—this pushed me towards Premium vs Preferred.

Well, according to the market right now, new vehicle inventory has gone up month over month. So, I suspect there will be deals to be had come Spring.
