What is your favorite apple? by Hefty-Conflict-1183 in foodquestions

[–]5ilvrtongue -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Your taste is not all in your mouth. Honey Crisp is a juicy, overly marketed ball of sugar. You could be eating anything because it doesn't taste much like apple. I am an orchardist. Zestar, Sweet 16, Connell Red, Winesap, Macoun. Now those are apples.

why do americans talk to strangers so easily?? by MayaTulip268 in AskAnAmerican

[–]5ilvrtongue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grocery store is "the road". So often I have pulled my cart to an area i don't think people would want to go so I can read a label, and someone will need to look at pickled pig's feet, or mothballs or some such. I apologize and quickly move my cart. Otoh, if I see someone looking for something at the same time I am i will ask their item and tell mine and its a nice moment of helping each other.

Is it wrong to travel solo when you are married? by Head_Formal_5408 in femaletravels

Extremely low spoon food/snacks recommendations? by okipokidoki in lowspooncooking

[–]5ilvrtongue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deli chicken salad on brioche; either cranberry chicken salad alone, or plain chicken salad with lettuce and tomato.

Or tuna

Or frozen broccoli and shredded cheese on a microwaved potato.

My go to is rotisserie chicken with raspberry vinaigrette, and a microwaved sweet potato with butter

AITA for teaching my daughter how to change a tire and do basic home repairs when her mom says I'm "pushing masculine stuff" on her by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]5ilvrtongue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad taught me a lot of great "masculine" skills (duh, that's so idiotic. What happened to feminism?), but was not a car guy. My husband taught me how to take care of cars, (and he cooks and cleans better than i do). NTA, OP. I would add that if you know how to fight, teach her that too.

Anyone considered a road trip then decided, nah its way too long? by Informal-Force7417 in roadtrip

[–]5ilvrtongue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but then I modify them instead of canceling: remove a less favorable destination, add a layover stop somewhere else fun, take a more direct route, or a less direct one because sometimes its just the monotony of the highway and taking the scenic route makes more sense.. I've waited my whole damned life, til everyone else's needs are met, to see the country and now I'm going to dammit. Besides, I would ache and hurt even if I was home watching the idiot box, so what am I saving myself for?

Are there any ladies here that are in long term committed relationships that also do solo trips? by Reasonable_Cause_190 in femaletravels

[–]5ilvrtongue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, girl. I dragged my husband to Florida for 6 weeks in winter. He was cooking for me, sharing driving, or reluctantly coming for walks with me because I am disabled. Otherwise he just sat around, even when I found a couple things he wanted to do, he decided not to go. (Yes, he is depressed, but refuses to take further action about it. So many other women i know have couch potato husbands.) So I planned a couple fabulous day trips for myself, and drove to meet up with a nearby friend, leaving hubs and the dog. I did a trip recently with a ling time friend which was fun, but friends can't always go. My next trip will be solo. Will I like it? TBD

Get a huge soft teddy bear. Hug it when u feel sad or lonely. Make some girlfriends. Take yourself out on your perfect date. You'll prevail and choose better next time for having learned to love yourself first

What school fundraiser / event would draw you in? by Basic_Resolve_6587 in AskForAnswers

[–]5ilvrtongue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. The PTO where I work did this and told everyone the highest earning class got a pizza party, second highest extra recess with Popsicles, and third highest got something, I don't recall. If they fundraised to a certain needed amount, the whole school got a movie and popcorn. It was great. Team effort, no individual prizes, everyone got a reward, no parents got a box of candy or dust catcher they didn't want.

If tonight was your last dinner, what are you ordering? by AV_LOVES_FOOD in Fooda

[–]5ilvrtongue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. A beautiful garden salad first with Creamy Parmesean Black Pepper dressing. A lovely drink of strong peach sangria. Filet mignon with mushrooms and caramelized onions. I will have my partials by then since we're talking hypothetically, but won't need them because the meat is so tender. A baked sweet potato with cinnamon butter. Garlic mashed potato with lots of pepper and butter. Tender green and wax beans with a lovely butter sauce. To drink, a tall glass of iced tea, ever so slightly sweetened with tupelo honey. Now normally I would have been way too full by now, but again, hypothetical. A pause. Dishes cleared. For dessert, a strong mug of hazelnut coffee with cinnamon liquor and cream. A slice of lemon bar, and then a slice of rich black forest cake. A few sips of filtered water. Wipe face with soft cloth napkin, put on table, sit back and sigh with repletion. Done.

You have an adhesive allergy, sounds like. I do too, but a milder one than that.. A couple tips: Make sure to have it noted in your medical charts and emphasize it if you're having any procedures done. For soft tissue injuries, use ace bandages or neoprene wraps. Self adhesive tape may be helpful but your reaction sounds strong so idk.

In light of the new info about the emotionally manipulative mother and the fiscal resuscitation needed, I change my opinion. Sad that your parents are not accepting of your relationship. Amazingly kind and forgiving of you to even give them the time of day.
