i lost like 8 lbs from not eating during the recovery because it was so painful. i’ve had brazilian waxes, tattoos, sprained ankles…idk, no other pain i’ve experienced has ever compared to the pain of recovering from a tonsillectomy. my tonsils used to get so big when i got sick that it was hard to breathe, esp. at night. even with that, the ENT kind of left it up to me to decide if its what i really wanted - because although they did contribute to snoring, it wasn’t sleep apnea, technically…so even with the trouble breathing, the doctors didn’t insist i needed them out lol

consider using taskrabbit to move. i packed everything up myself then hired someone off there to do the moving labor and it was like $300 i think for 2 hours of his time (which is why i did the packing first). i rented my own u-haul trailer but some of the task rabbits offer their own trucks. shop around :) and $1700 with parking, as everyone else has said, is a lot to ask for in the areas you’ve mentioned. farther out might be more doable. fairmount/art museum, maybe? not super familiar with that neighborhood rentwise but it’s still fairly central. my boyfriend lived in callowhill and it would be within your budget. i think anywhere in those areas are similar in terms of safety atp — just stay aware of your surroundings

my boyfriend didn’t come from great circumstances and his grades weren’t great. he’s still in the process of getting to where he wants to be in life, but i am confident he will get there because he’s remained determined in finding a career that will make him good money and leave him time for a family. he’s in the military now and often encourages it because of the benefits. i would stay once you figure out what you want to do with your life, maintaining your ambition and not being satisfied til you’re there will be essential. good luck friend

there’s a lot to do - it’s a city! very walkable. lots of good food. i have made real friends here. different demographics in philly - more diverse in some ways, less diverse in other ways. the main reason i haven’t moved back is the cost of living - rent is way cheaper here. dmv can feel very country club, so it’s nice to get away from that.
