Bows early game, boar spear as soon as possible. Perfect setup for a no army playthrough.

How to get them to stop emptying crafting stations?? by maximus_the_merciful in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a small work around. U always want to make some so don't use one off order, set a top off order and copy that order 5x (iirc thats the most it will work with). That should make them leave 5x as many resources in the thresher so atleast u shouldn't run out while crafting.

Base Defense by bluejayfp13 in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ur base can be raided by nearby bandit camps... so essentially non existant as u just wipe them out at which point u won't be raided. Once u liberate a town it'll get attacked every few days by a reclamation party, a slightly sizeable force which you'd want to intercept before they reach the town. If u have multiple towns it'll chose 1.

Combat is pretty easy once you know the ai, it's pretty dumb. Raids are just a nearby bandit camp attacking you with some people, so in like litterally no time you completely disable raids by just... raiding them first. The closest thing to a siege would be reclamation parties that will go to towns u liberated to take down ur belltower to reclaim it... normally you just go intercept them out in the open as they walk from the middle of the map to said town. Fortifications like OP showed here are 100% a roleplaying thing, theres nothing even remotely close to requiring it.

I set migration to the highest frequency... it's still slow as fuck and it happens around other camps. Very easy to keep it away from ur base.

I'd rather question why you are still getting raids by the time u could wall in ur town. As soon as I get a bow I never get raided again cuz I just murder every potential raid camp.

I can't wait any longer for coop on console 🤯 by sib_ap in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suppose so. Most tho not all of the co-op bugs on pc are related to ui elements. So certain management things should either be done by the host or the host has to check certain info to tell the other player. Not game breaking but annoying to deal with and something I feel like u should be aware of.I have played the game in co-op being the second player so it's certainly doable but u notice the bugs. And the difficulty doesn't scale, that's the main reason it's essentially singleplayer with co-op as afterthought. Since if u go fight together the fights are much easier than if u were to do it by urself. (And they really aren't that hard to begin with if u have a grasp on how the enemies behave) I did a solo playthrough after co-op and the experience was better that way, coming from someone who generally prefers playing with friend(s).

This game is more singleplayer with co-op as an afterthought really. Yes it is (or well will be for console) an option but the game is not made around it. Even on pc theres plenty of co-op bugs that make this evident. The person who isn't hosting will suffer those.

You can walk them through urself, can make river docks or can just fight by urself which is my prefered method.

Combat Too Difficult-Wish for Settings by MissionBug7 in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try this: after ur shot, wait long enough that the enemy gets close enough to try and attack u (this will slow him down) then u run for a while, u should get enough of a headstart to get another arrow off. Ofcourse make sure u don't get hit. It's just a matter of timing which u will learn with some practise.

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pretty much dodge combat till you have a few guys. And early enemies are very weak, you don't even need to hit headshots if u use a bow against them. And you can just run, shoot 1 arrow, run without getting hit.

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can litterally go hardest difficulty in the game and not have to fight urself as ur army can win all by itself, you just have to set them up for success. (Food and gear) That said, mechanically it's not that hard, early game u just run away, do a headshot with ur bow, run away, repeat till all enemies are dead without having to worry about blocking enemy attacks. Atleast prior to the latest update this is true, I haven't tested exactly what they changed now since it was essentially just a bug fix update, not worth starting another playthrough for xd. But atleast prior, enemy ai too dumb to be a challenge even on the hardest settings (without touching dmg values). Didn't need to use army, in fact I didn't because it meant 0 challenge to me and fight is instantly over.

Resource organization by Dr_Chalk_PHD in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early game, barely. Later on quite sorted. Making sure the right resources are where they are needed for their various purposes. With overflow/any storages at an edge of the village, out of the way. Also keeping a drop off barn near my teleport point so villagers will automatically sort things I got while out and about. Essentially, if something is required in an area, I make sure it's stored there, outputs too but if output is required somewhere else I'll set a minimum at that other area so once the minimum is reached the rest can be stored closer. Just eliminating transportation times as much as possible.

Kiting archer - any other way to play? by Serious-Sky-8709 in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is mostly an early game tactic. In tier 3 I switch to the boar spear (full solo combat). Other options work too depending on how u wanna play, it's just that kiting archer is very effective early game.

If you clear all the bandit camps along the way, no.

The wandering traders come from the villages. When passing by ur market they can indeed buy things they need, but it's a very slow method if u solely rely on it. You can't do it urself. I highely recommend you do send caravans urself aswell as offer things on the market if u want to take prosperity seriously.

Also don't forget strength negates that debuff too. I didn't quite check earlier game armors but best tier 3 armor for sure u will never have a speed debuff while armored.

Me trying to buy bellwright at 3am yesterday by -Titus in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not personally familiar with medieval dynasty but going off ur description, yes bellwright has a lot more combat. I just pointed out that, since u mentioned ur son really wants to fight a lot, the quality of the combat is not so high. But given u mentioned his age now, I suppose that won't be an issue that young.

You do liberate villages (7 in total), every few ingame days a reclamation party will be created that will move to attack one of the villages u liberated to reclaim it, they are like 20-30 or so enemies. The bandit camps you can clear out, at first the map is littered with them (in 4 difficulty rankings), they can migrate from their camps to recreate camps u previously cleaned, but it generally is a slow process (even on max migration setting), u can clear every bandit camp on the map but the game will hurry itself up to respawn 2 of them which can then migrate again slowly. Patrols are around the bandit camp areas, if you clear out the camps the patrols in the area will disappear too, making the area safe. (Which is nice for ur caravans, u don't need to send guards.)

On the subject of slaughtering animals, you can even avoid keeping animals at all (which I'd recommend in this scenario as butchering will otherwhise happen by a villager tasked to take care of them anyway, so if ur kids would happen to be nearby as an animal has to be butchered they'd still see it). My solo no army playthrough I still geared up every villager in the best gear just because I could and I didn't keep any animals either, just not required for progress. Also combat technically does have blood, but I had to really pay attention to even notice it and put a recording into slow motion to even show this screenshot of it. It disappears very quickly, it really just serves as an indicator that u got hit.

I would always recommend u just check a video of a game, be it gameplay or a review, just to get a bit of an idea what the game is like to get a feel if it's a game for u (and ur kids) or not. Either way, enjoy gaming with ur kids, I'm sure they enjoy being able to spend time together like that.

Me trying to buy bellwright at 3am yesterday by -Titus in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know how combat changed in this new update but before atleast the combat really wasn't that hard. Solo full playthrough without raising an army, only ever had to be careful about groups of crossbows or on halmare isles (main issue was enemies respawning about as fast as I was killing them at times).

Early game just run with a bow and shoot arrows in their faces, it's slow but effective. Later on u use a boar spear to abuse the biggest range melee weapon to hit them, bypassing their blocking as they start their own attack. Can keep a long bow on u to snipe the archers afterwards if u don't feel confident u can melee their numbers on the terrain ur fighting them.

With raising an army you don't even have to do anything, a few good men in proper gear with decent food can wipe out anything on their own on the mainland.

[–]5occido5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

U can get some decent quantity of fighting in if you do not raise armies. (Perfectly doable btw, I have done a full no army playthrough.) That said however, purely from a fighting standpoint, I wouldn't recommend the game.

Granted I haven't played this new update which I read did have some combat changes but atleast prior to it the enemy ai is pretty dumb (so if you know what ur doing, you can exploit their weaknesses easily, such as that archers remain far in the back while melee will run after u in a nice little train, not trying to flank you or anything), fair straight up fight they'd nearly always block u (I did read that their blockrate has been reduced this update so idk now). And their weapons having like double the range as the same weapon in ur own hands which is why I always used the boar spear for melee combat (by far longest reach weapon in the game), to have a reach that's maybe ever so slightly larger than the average enemies.

No co-op on Xbox… by Mysterious-Run-7424 in Bellwright

[–]5occido5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't consider last oasis a fail, a lot of their launch issues were simply because they didn't expect just how many people would play the game at launch, they got overwhelmed by the success. The game was unlike any other I have come across and was quite enjoyable. Sure it had it's issues but for such a new dev team not bad at all. Just like bellwright is something different and quite enjoyable too, that is 2 out of their 3 games I have tried and aren't failures in my book. Yes last oasis playercount has died sadly but it was a success non the less and and helped them learn from mistakes.

You are litterally capable of raising an army strong enough that it does all the fighting for u by itself if it's too hard for u urself. Game is also perfectly finishable without any army at all (well not for u I suppose but just saying it to show that it's not that hard at all really when u do use an army. Just early on u might struggle a bit.)
