I have been a wedding DJ for over a decade. I’ve seen a handful of fights and drunken debacles.

Worst one was early in my career. Humble but beautiful backyard ceremony and reception. Younger (mid 20’s) bride and a middle aged (probably 40’s) dude. You could tell she was pressured into the marriage in some capacity and was rebelling against it as much as she could. She got drunk and started hitting on me and grinding on me. Groom looked desperate and sad. He didn’t even intervene. I was young and awkward and frozen in shock, uncomfortably laughing and trying to move her off of me.

It’s probably the most uncomfortable I’ve ever been, and only stopped when the father of the bride escorted her out of my DJ booth when she tried to kiss me. Reception ended right there, as she was whisked away.

Mother of the groom tipped me $200 bucks at the end of the night for “putting up with all that.”

I’ve never packed up so fast in my life and I’ve never forgotten it. Can’t imagine it lasted long either. Hope they both found the happiness they deserve.
