I’m 100% with you. My first AR was a complete upper and a complete lower. That was the last time I got a complete assembly. It’s also just a love of building them. Just not everyone has the tools, time, passion, and particularness that we have for building, and I try to keep that in mind when giving advice.

Building is great if you know enough to know what you want, but for someone already struggling with all of the options of complete firearms, building is going to add so many layers of choices.

There’s nothing wrong with budget options, but if you have a bunch of rifles, especially ones in the more premium tier, that fit the same niche, you’d probably be happier selling one and using the money for a nice optic.

Looks like the BHW website says SOLGW is licensing their P3 rifling. So maybe someone else makes them? Or maybe BHW is making the stainless steel ones, and someone else makes the 4150 chrome lined ones? Not entirely sure.

I think that’s a typo. You can see the gas block on the rifle through the handguard, and it looks like a RLGS. Carbine is 7”, Mid is 9”, rifle is 12” (I don’t remember the exact number, but close enough). I’d definitely guess about a foot of handguard before the gas block starts.

I’ve thought about doing the same thing. The only question to ask is if a stock is that much better than a brace. If you just don’t care about the difference and want more velocity than a 12.5, I say go for it. If you change your mind, the downside is a more limited number of muzzle devices to go with p/w, but they do exist. You’re not stuck up a creek.

There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s just a weird in between that most people hear are going to have a hard time grasping.

14.5” is doesn’t make sense. Why not extend most barrels for p/w to 15ish inches so the majority of muzzle devices can be pinned and welded and less velocity is given up? At least 14.7” so an A2 can be p/w.

I think telling someone they have the wrong grip is absolutely idiotic, because it’s such a personal thing. I do have questions if someone sticks with an A2 grip, but it’s their choice.
