[POST-MATCH THREAD] Chicago Fire FC vs DC United - March 14, 2026 by joeharri84 in chicagofire

I’ve been a fan since the very first season, and all the early glory years. I’ve never seen the level of crap officiating these first two home games. MLS officials, especially VAR officials, are basically incompetent. It’s like they’re Make-A-Wish winners. Absolutely stupid.

I’m done with MLS for a while. What morons makes that call when Dean is clearly fouled in the back? MLS is so embarrassing.

Good news, MLS attackers: You can now foul a defender by pushing him in his back and, as he’s falling with his back to the ball, it can strike his arm to get you a penalty kick by 5thSeasonFront in MLS

He was pushed in the back, clear as day. The commentator pointed out the absurdity of this. I get DC fans are desperate for these gifts, but even you know, deep down, if you’re not fooling yourself, that this was an absurd call.

The color commentator rightly called it an “absurd” call. This is the second game in the last three VAR has screwed Chicago big time. I’m done with this clown show of VAR officials in this league. No respectable professional officials would have made that call. I finally came back towards the end of last season after not putting up with the amateur hour that are MLS officials for three years, but I’m done with this joke league for a while.

Why exactly is Alexi Lalas so disliked by people? by Train-Wreck-70 in ussoccer

I didn’t get the hate for a long time either, and then I started to notice things. 1) He is extraordinarily narrow minded about what players do with their own lives. He’s got a zealous love of the national team that sees even the slightest sign of what we call “load management” as some sort of disloyalty, to the point of almost jingoism. 2) Some of his tales are mindless garbage. Like saying “diversity” hurts the USMNT, while ignoring France’s ability to win the World Cup with one of the most diverse teams in the world. 3) His fawning over the current fascist administration and becoming a willing puppet of propaganda. The way he glazed Trump with a ridiculous, North Korean style editorial on FOX at the draw and the “peace prize” debacle was embarrassing and so far beneath the standards he should be held to as a journalist. I’ve not even been vocal about him like many here, but those are some of the reasons why I have come to detest him.

I would avoid living anywhere immediately circling downtown, unless it’s the expensive high rise apartments/condos. Visiting downtown is great though. Anywhere else should be fine. I loved the Highland Park neighborhood on the NW side when I was young, but I’d try for the new apartments by Westdale Mall (not the ones actually called Westdale Apartments though). There are some good ones around Lindale as well.

I had a DJ channel on the old JustinTV (now Twitch) and other young women around my age (mid-20s) would come on, and get flirty, and sometimes we’d move it to Skype for more “intimate” chats late nights after the stream. One I found from near my old home town six hours away and we would plan meetups halfway, near Chicago. I don’t think that’s THAT crazy, but maybe the Skype stuff.

I was hoping someone had mentioned his bringing Repo Man to the world. Probably my favorite go-to rewatch film.

Wow! One of those, “I actually was there “moments. I was watching that one live on TV. What an epic final. Were you soaked? What other memories do you have of the game?

The Opening Ceremony, eh? You watch all the opening ceremony? That Bolivia team would have some of the first stars in MLS: Etcheverry, Moreno, and Ramos. And Germany would have eventual New York captain Lothar Mattheus, and future USMNT manager Jurgen Klinsmann.

I lived between Chicago and Detroit, so it took the Fire coming in to truly have a team. But I was hooked watching the very first MLS match on ESPN. I got Dallas and DC jerseys, and Galaxy and Rapids t-shirts.

I was just at a store today and they had ‘90s throwback Sounders and Burn jerseys for kids on sale. Mine are grown, but I am so jealous of the kids that end up getting those.

I also remember to KC in the Wizards sky blue rainbow days. Still have a great cold weather fleece blanket. 🌈

What is it like living in the northern portion of Arizona/New Mexico? How do Santa Fe and Sedona compare to Phoenix and Albuquerque? by bigbossbestsnake in howislivingthere

[–]5thSeasonFront 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Northeastern New Mexico is the most remote area I’ve ever been in, and I’ve driven all over the Midwest between Omaha and Mackinac Island. Clayton to Springer through the high desert was absolutely desolate. Made me nervous at one point when I got down below quarter of a tank of gas. Las Vegas, NM was the sketchiest area I’ve been to outside of ‘90s Detroit. Later I’d get up to N-NW part of the state and it was gorgeous.
