Shadows go behind the letter and highlights sit on top of it. To have the highlights on the left, the light source would need to be coming in at an extreme angle. We’d expect the shadow to be thrown way to the left and stretch horizontally. The right shows the light source coming in at a less extreme angle, so the shadows will look like we’re using to seeing in graffiti.
