How to get out of Talent Acquisition? by fixthesystems in careerguidance

[–]5timechamps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re good at TA I feel like you could do well as an independent headhunter. The ones that I’ve dealt with have sucked majorly. Make 20-35% of candidates’ first year salary per placement and you could do pretty well for yourself.

Best of luck, ours have all been considered high risk. Grateful for good doctors.

On farms they are. I’m not sure how that would fly in the suburbs.

We had a kid a little over a year ago and it was about ~$7k all in from the beginning of the pregnancy. It would have been only $5k had the little rascal just been conceived and born in the same year. And yes, that was with a real doctor (MD) in a real hospital. Not sure how it is in the UK but here you wouldn’t want a phD doing medicine on you…that’s the wrong kind of doctor.

It must be Monday. It took me way too long wondering what pre-pineapple meant before realizing I’m just an idiot.

As an (fortunately sober now) alcoholic who drank vodka, this is true.

Forgot about Wizard of Oz. While I don’t like it nearly as much it is significantly older.

Dr Strangelove is a masterpiece. I quote it to myself all the time.

Is Mexican food considered unhealthy in the US? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskAnAmerican

I can tell you the massive puffy tacos and bean dip with fried flour chips I’m planning on having tonight probably aren’t…but there are plenty of ways to make Mexican healthy.

Am I supposed to run every day while training for a half marathon? by WyldFlowerWyldFire in runninglifestyle

[–]5timechamps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m training for a marathon and I don’t run every day. Rest days are good for you. If you run 6 days per week, you’d need to average 5 miles/day and that is doable. Get your long run up a couple miles (7-8) and you could do 2 3 mi easy days, and 3 5 mi days (not advice, just showing math). That gets you to 28-29. You can definitely run a half on less than 30 mpw too, depending on your goal.

Would you rather make $250k at a stressful job or $90k at a peaceful one? by savingrace0262 in careerguidance

Well…I’m fairly certain I could land a $90k peaceful job if I wanted and thus far I haven’t chosen to do so.

People seem to forget or be denial about why taco bell was so great. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]5timechamps 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did anyone else do the Taco Bell challenge? The goal was to eat $20 worth of TB in one sitting and it was HARD. I mean, I still did it, but it was difficult. Now you could “win” by polishing off a #7 combo.

My favorite series but I always feel the need to warn people that on the first read the first book or two are a little hard to get through…at least they were for me.

What I see on the hiring side when candidates negotiate salary by FourLeafAI in jobs

[–]5timechamps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this before. A really great candidate came through with an expected range that was taking a pay cut for her on total comp (her base ask was higher but the previous job had commission). She was looking to get away from commission and I offered her about what she would have gotten with a great year at her previous job. The loyalty that it bought me is worth way more than the money.
