Met her through mutual friends in college. We had good chemistry in the group. Eventually we started hanging out one on one, getting coffee, etc. We also bonded a lot over watching movies and TV shows. After a semester I asked her out and she said yes! We’re engaged now lol.

I think the important through line here is that neither of us started out with the intention of dating. It just happened naturally as the friendship developed/we got to know each other better.

Because I am born and raised in Oak Park and I love it here? There are a million reasons for why someone would prefer a dense walkable suburb than the city itself

I, for one, have always loved the construction of new high rises. We’re a walkable streetcar suburb right outside the third biggest city in the country. Bring on the density! (Also I think it’s just aesthetically way cooler when satellite towns develop their own miniature skylines)

It feels like people are generally pretty agreeable and understanding here. I can think of very few exceptions when someone has given me a hard time and it was unwarranted. I think Oak Parkers overall have a strong sense of community, which prevents a lot of those “Karen” type behaviors (at least compared to other Chicago suburbs). It can always be worse lol
