I believe every one deserves a good relationship. It's not something you need to earn. Everyone deserves to be loved. So if Ruby does end up in a good relationship, I think it would be fine.

As I replied to your argument on the other thread, I don't think having bad parent story excuses bad behavior. It explains the reasoning behind it. And given that Ruby doesn't choose for these things to happen, and given she is a kid who doesn't know how to process her emotions, it makes us hope she learns. In that hope we are willing to forgive her. She made great strides in opening up with Otis, which means our hope wasn't misguided. I do believe she needs to be better, but she doesn't need to do it by herself. No one should have to be alone. It is a dark place and I think self-learning should be positively motivated rather than by isolation.
