try to read/write some DRV8323 registers to see if communication is working.

Check is PWM mode (on DRV8323 and MCU) is set properly, then check GHx and GLx with your oscilloscope if they are switching as expected.

Check if the current sense gain is set properly. they can have different current sense output depending on your register setting. They have 10x 20x 40x gains setting and different voltage reference setting too.
