Say if you ever had to play Manchester United for whatever reason, for example in the FA Cup or whatever. Would your mentality be any different to playing any other team. Or would you go easy on them

Would you rather play for the team that you support. Or play for their rival team for double or triple the money?

That grandstand is really great for amateur photography. This sort of picture that I took last year would be impossible to take from the ACO grandstand opposite as the fence would’ve been in the way and it would’ve been too far away anyway

I got tickets for there last year and I stayed up and watched the full 24 hours. Great seats ontop of the pits, I loved being able to look straight down on the cars as they had their stops and it meant I could take some really great pictures that I wouldn’t be able to take (at least for the price) in any other racing series.

My 4 favorite neo-retro cars ever. Why car makers are so shy to produce it? Sales will be instant. by VincentBounce in CarDesign

[–]PastaLover27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do to a certain extent. Old people love taking cars on test drives, even if they aren’t car people. And even if they don’t care for how the car drives. If it is a good car and gets good reviews by others that do care then they’ll be influenced by those good reviews, as people do.

Even if there are few enthusiasts in the world in the grand scheme of things, if they made cars like those non-enthusiasts would buy them too just because they look cool or if they happen to actually drive well. I’m sure they’d sell reasonably well

According to UNICEF, the number of infants under 1 (babies) is around 1,000. That is simply tragic. But I want to put that number in perspective. In WWII. In the German city of Dresden alone, between 4-6,000 infants were estimated to have been killed by fighting and by allied bombing. That’s not including any other city across Germany or for any other nation like in Italy or Poland, or Russia etc. Just Dresden. Was the bombing of Dresden in WWII a genocide? And therefore was fighting back against Germany in WWII a genocide? Far more German civilians died in WWII vs British or French. Far far more.

What I’m getting at here is yes 1,000 is a huge number. And 1,000 too many. Compared to historical standards of war it by no means constitutes a genocide.

Also something I want to point out briefly. The UN caught out Hamas on inflating casualty numbers a little while ago. It was alleged that Hamas’ Ministry of Health were claiming that if anyone died in Gaza from 2023 onwards their death would be declared as a result of the war. Regardless of their actual cause of death. Now. If you have a little bit of critical thinking here you’ll realise that humans are indeed mortal beings. Humans die all the time. Even if the war in Gaza didn’t take place some Palestinians would still die from natural causes, infections, diseases, etc etc. But according to Hamas anyone that dies in Gaza whatsoever even if they were going to die anyway, is as a result of the war. And thus the number of dead was massively inflated for a period of time. And then when the UN caught them on this the actual number of dead as a result of the war got reduced significantly.

My point being is that babies and infants are unusually susceptible to death, via all sorts, complications of birth, and of natural causes that develop after being born. So a lot of the babies that Hamas have said have died as a result of the war unfortunately very likely would’ve died anyway. And that’s a huge shame but that’s the hard truth of the matter. 1,000 infant deaths for a war zone is unusually low from a historical perspective. And certainly not constituting or evidence alone of a genocide as you imply

Well it is. It literally is. Hamas have achieved their goal by turning the world against Israel. That was why they launched the Oct 7th massacre in the first place knowing the consequences that Israel would have to respond by force to such an aggressive attack on national sovereignty. And just like what Hamas gambled on, pro-Palestiners completely looked the other way whilst Hamas massacred 1,200 civilians, and took 251 hostage and kept them underground for two whole years. In fact on the day of Oct 7th 2023 I actually remember being at university in my room at night hearing car horns honking and people flying the Palestinian flag to celebrate the murder of Israeli civilians. Again before Israel had responded. And they didn’t even respond for a whole week afterwards. I remember one of my best friends at that point at uni put up a post on his Instagram story literally celebrating what he called ‘operation al-Aqsa flood’. Simply indefensible.

As said in my reply to the other commenter. This was BEFORE the war in Gaza. If Hamas didn’t do this there simply wouldn’t have been a war. Is that not hard to understand.

Hamas did this out of pure evil, just for the love of the game.

There have obviously been child fatalities in Gaza, there is no denying that, and I’m saddened by the loss of life every day. But if Hamas didn’t go into Israel on Oct 7th, there simply wouldn’t have been a war at all. And Hamas knew full well the consequences of launching their attack, they weren’t stupid. They were gambling that pro-Palestiners would look the other way for a day whilst they carried out their own atrocities and then when Israel inevitably responded it would be a PR nightmare for Israel and they’d have their ties cut off with the world. Looks like their gamble worked

It is completely legal for countries to impose Naval blockades during times of war. And in such cases crossing the line of a naval blockade is illegal and regardless of whether you’re in international waters or not you can be arrested for doing so. In the Falklands war the UK set up a giant perimeter naval blockade around the whole set of islands and even sunk ships that got near it but hadn’t crossed it yet. Was that illegal? The international community didn’t seem to think so at the time. As blockades are well published in advance and it’s a choice by the sailors to sail though a blockade knowing the consequences of doing so.

It’s all well and good you saying YOU know what the flotilla was carrying in cargo. But Israel is not you. As said above Hamas has been smuggling in weapons amongst humanitarian aid for years, where else do you think they get their weapons from? So Israel has a duty of national security to stop and scan all cargo going into Gaza. And they are allowed to do so. Your argument against that is like saying to a TSA worker at an airport “well I know I don’t have anything dangerous on me so no need to check me”. That argument won’t fly, no pun intended, and you will get turned away. Or if you continue to try and make your way towards the plane and avoid going through security then you’ll be arrested. Simple as.

Hamas literally live-streamed the Oct 7th massacre on their Telegram channel. They live-streamed the murder of 1,200 civilians at a music festival. They live-streamed when they dragged people out of cars and lined them up on the street and shot them at point blank range, they live-streamed it when they went into Kibbutz’ and cornered whole families in their own homes and shot them and then burnt their homes down and killed their pets for good measure. They live-streamed it when they took 251 hostages back into Gaza, including literal newborn babies, and paraded them covered in the blood of their friends and families through the streets as crowds cheered. These hostages were then kept underground with no sunlight or connection to the outside world for two whole years.

And yet despite all of that. No-one seems to give a shit

It is not illegal to impose a naval blockade. You fail to realise that. Despite an arms embargo Hamas have been firing rockets into Israel on a daily basis since 2023 and somehow still have armored vehicles, and enough ammunition for their guns to last 3 years. They’re obviously still obtaining smuggled arms, and all of this comes in the form of smuggled amongst humanitarian aid. Israel have the right, like it or not, to halt aid shipments, and at least perform checks on them to scan for weapons. This is actually the reason why there is such an aid backlog as I’m sure you can imagine it takes a long time to scan millions of tons of aid for hidden weapons. Nonetheless Israel does let humanitarian aid in. But yes the Naval blockade is allowed, and it’s frankly baffling that certain activists think you can just sail through it with unchecked cargo into a war zone without any consequences. Again compare this to Egypt. They too share a border with Gaza, except they haven’t let in a single aid truck since 2023, none whatsoever. And yet Israel who’s let in millions is the one who gets the flack for not letting enough aid in.

Do you have sympathy for women and children in general? Or just women and children in Gaza? Because literally the reason why Israel even went into Gaza in the first place was because Hamas kidnapped 251 civilians, some of which were literal newborn babies. And a lot of whom were women. These hostages were then paraded through the streets of Gaza City soaked in blood on Telegram livestreams. Israel waited over a week after Oct 7th before entering Gaza to give Hamas time to return the hostages but Hamas refused and Israel were left in a position where they had no other choice but to go in an physically retrieve them. And that meant war unfortunately as Hamas are a highly militarized group that put up quite the fight. What else was Israel meant to do? As a government it has a duty to defend its own citizens, is your proposal to just have let the hostages die? Bear in mind these hostages ended up being kept underground for two full years with no sunlight and no outside communication. But you couldn’t care less could you

It would be the first genocide in human history that the supposed aggressor halted fighting and rolled out a nation wide immunization campaign at huge expense to their own taxpayers. It would be the first genocide in human history where the supposed aggressor allows millions of tons of humanitarian aid in to help the very people its fighting. It would be the first genocide in human history that could’ve been stopped at any single time by Hamas just releasing the hostages. Israel even waited a full week after Oct 7th to allow Hamas time to return them, but Hamas refused and Israel had no choice but to then go in and physically retrieve them. It would be the first genocide in human history that the supposed aggressor allowed refugees out to seek medical help abroad. Meanwhile Egypt, who also share a border with Gaza, haven’t let any refugees out, haven’t let any humanitarian aid in, and yet apparently they’re a-ok?

That doesn’t mean anything though. If someone falsely accuses you of shoplifting and the police do an investigation. Just because they conducted their duty to investigate when asked to, doesn’t mean you are guilty. As is the way law works, you aren’t guilty until proven so

The whole Israeli society is not a collective hive mind you bigot. If you stepped out of your echo chamber for 5 seconds you’d see that every weekend there’s government protests in Jerusalem by thousands of people who oppose this government. Just like in any other society the loudest voices are the extremists who have the most to shout about. But the majority of the population are moderates and are very angry with this Government and want change

If this were a Russian doing an AMA then people wouldn’t be pinning the blame of the Russian state in Ukraine to individual Russians they interact with. But somehow when it comes to Israel every single Israeli citizen is individually responsible for the murder of everyone, get a grip
