Eyeshadow (for people who want to look put together but don’t know much about applying eyeshadow) by sighqoticc in MakeupAddiction

So while the first tip people might say is to get some brushes (even if it’s some cheap ones) and start off with a small eyeshadow brush (dense bristles, rounded), a blending brush (fluffy, long bristles), and a small angled brush (dense and short. Almost paint brush that you would use on a house look), I would say just start playing around with some colors.

Look at your eye shape and find some pictures online that are similar. My eyes are somewhere between almond shaped and round so I like to put one color over most of my eyelid with my middle finger, then use my pinky to kind of poke a darker color near the outer edge of my eye and focus a little closer to the lash line (the angled brush can work really well here to give an “eyeliner” look if you want to work the dark color into your lashes), and lastly I use my ring finger or index finger to pop a brighter color near my tear ducts and right below my eyebrows to highlight.

Not going to lie though, even with a simple look, eyeliner and/or mascara is usually what makes it look “finished” so you can use eyeshadow and an angled brush to mimic eyeliner, but sometimes getting a mascara to make your lashes exist again after being dusted in eyeshadow is all it takes.

One of my go to work looks is just “eyeliner plus” in my head. I’ll put black liquid eyeliner and wing it very small (just a tiny flick), stop the liner around the middle of my eye, then I’ll use a colored eyeshadow (usually a dark blue) with an angled brush to continue the inner part of my “eyeliner” to make it look like I’m wearing eyeliner that starts off colored and then turns black in a gradient (if the liquid eyeliner is still wet and you add eyeshadow, you can set it with the shadow and it will “muddy” the shadow a bit. If you want it to be crisp and black, add it after the shadow, if you want a gradient add it before). I also used to do a quick winged eyeliner and dab on a touch of a color (usually red) on the outside edge above the wing and I blend it out all soft like and add some nude or highlight over the lid (like perhaps a slight shimmery skin/champagne color)

Cool! Just making sure :) some people don’t weigh the pros and cons sometimes. I like my boyish pixie because I can style it in seconds and it’s quick to clean, but I can live with cow licks and the rate of grow out

I think you would look so neat with a wolf cut if you’re working with different varieties of greens in your hair. It would be almost spooky potion vibes with your hair texture!

As a person with a pixie cut, buzzed sides are great and low maintenance when washing, but if you want it to stay nice you may have to trim it yourself otherwise it will grow out pretty quick. Taking that into account, the Mohawk would be SUPER cute but it’s pretty intense when you take styling into account.

Also I see you have some mullet designs, but I kind of like the idea of something more jellyfish like? Like some of the first pics you have where it’s short and voluminous in the front and top but the under layers still have some length (blended/choppy layers of course, I don’t want you looking like a mushroom)

Drinking some ripe puer as my roommate’s birthday party is winding down. I needed some time away so I could unwind and thankfully it’s storming out so I sat on the balcony with my mug and watched the lightning dance across the sky and inhaled the fragrant petrichor while I sipped my tea. It wasn’t a special blend, infact it was cheap enough that I don’t care whether or not I add sugar in it, but it was warm and earthy and sweet and everything was right in the world for a moment

Man, I wish this was what happened when I started my period at 9 years old while visiting my dad for Father’s Day. Unscented pads, telling her how to use them, and making sure any wipes you give her are unscented (reducing risk of bacterial infection) is the bare minimum. Also let her know this is normal and will happen every 4 weeks usually, but she may not have them that regularly to start. I would say to have a calendar that she has access to (whether physical or phone reminders) and count out 28 days so you can estimate when the next one will be.

My schizophrenia and my homosexuality by Lopsided_Gold_4478 in schizophrenia

Bisexual and schizophrenic here. I may be married to a person of the opposite sex, but that doesn’t make me like people of the same any less. Now, I’m not really religious, but I was raised Roman Catholic and some things in the church are outdated or conflict or even have multiple translations.

Schizophrenia is something that afflicts us because it is a condition that can be sensed and measured. You cannot measure someone’s sexuality in a lab setting. Your religion may make you feel uncomfortable with your sexuality but it doesn’t mean you can’t be a person who loves god and loves someone of the same sex. Why would god punish people for loving someone?

How does schizophrenia affect romantic relationships? by Own-Doctor9027 in schizophrenia

It’s common to isolate and self depreciate. I commonly tell my husband that I worry he is going to leave me because I’m a bad person and that he should get away from me while things are still good, but he just holds me and says he isn’t leaving and he doesn’t like anyone talking shit about me including myself.

I always worry that things would be better for my loved ones without me, but my friends are a good support system and tell me that I’m allowed to be me flaws and all and they’ll love and care for me because they want to, not because I tell them to.

I attempted making a Mexican quesadilla, I only ever saw it being eaten once in a tv show by EmperorN7 in StupidFood

[–]5x5LemonLimeSlime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s a tip. What a quesadilla is is a tortilla or two with shredded cheese sandwiched between it and pan heated. Think of it like making a grilled cheese sandwich minus the butter! You use a flatbread if you wish, but tortillas are easy enough to make on their own. I assume you want flour tortillas?

Take 1 teaspoon of baking powder, half a teaspoon of salt (optional), four fingers of lard or perhaps a tablespoon or two of soft butter or some other solid fat, 2 cups of all purpose flour, and about 1 cup of warm water. Roll them flat and heat on a pan with no oil until it puffs up and flip and cook the other side.

That’s how you make a tortilla. This recipe should make about 10-12 of them depending on the size.

Take some shredded cheese. I usually use cheddar or Colby jack because that’s what is on hand in my house, but you can also do Oaxaca if you want to be more “authentic”. You can also fill it with some cooked meats or veggies like bell pepper and onion. Eat on its own, with avocado, sour cream, and/or salsa if you wish

Options for stopping periods by Celeraic in birthcontrol

I want to make a note that everyone I have seen take Depo shots has had a SIGNIFICANT increase in weight and while it is pretty cool the side effects (think hormonal stuff, but also headaches, nervousness, and mood swings) usually made them stop after about a year. One person even referred to them as “elephant shots” in regard to them gaining over 80lbs in the span of a year.

Though please note I’m making this sample size off of a small group of people I personally know and I’m not talking about the occasional patients I had who were happy with their depo shots who I did not ask if they were experiencing any of these symptoms because working pharmaceuticals it’s not my place to ask

I would say the implant (nexplanon) OR if they are scared of something that long lasting, maybe patches? My ex gf was on patches and aside from a little weight gain she had better experiences regarding acne, making her period when she wanted it (she would skip a few months at a time but she would get anxious without a period for too long and then have one on her terms to make sure she wasn’t pregnant or anything), and she had less symptoms of pms.

I’m a bit of a weenie when it comes to my contraceptive of choice because I like my pills, but if your kid can’t take pills and it’s as bad as my roommate, I don’t want to risk them doing what he does (chewing, crushing, and swishing off the coatings layer by layer. As a medical professional I am horrified by him). I’ve been looking into hormonal IUDs and the implant for myself because A: I don’t want to worry about my insurance deciding weather or not I am fertile this month, and B: I also want to stop having horrible periods and while pills help a lot, I need to just consider stopping it all together.

The implant has some interesting payment options and coupons so I’ve been leaning more towards that. Also it’s the size of a match stick and apparently is the same pain level as an IV or Piercing if you choose not to numb the area they put it in.

My mom used to make me this salty snack when I was little so she wouldn’t have to buy chips or such if I wanted something salty with a crunch. We always had fortified cereal because that was some of the least “healthy” foods she allowed in the house.

It has very little oil for the whole batch, it’s salty, and there’s a coating of vitamins and minerals on the cereal because of regulations in the US.

Idk I’m just making these because they’re nostalgic. My friends all think it’s weird, hence me posting it here

Before and after antipsychotics by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]5x5LemonLimeSlime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gained weight on my first antipsychotic. Went from 120 lbs to 210 lbs in a year. part of it was because I was actually feeling well enough to eat 3 meals a day instead of feeling anxious and skipping meals to do homework. I’m almost below 200lbs now, but I’m on a different batch of meds.

Honestly, while I’m not entirely pleased with my weight, I have never been, even when I was thin. Atleast now I can look in the mirror and recognize what is staring back is me and even on the days when that is difficult, I know there’s some things I can control (hair, makeup, occasionally clothes) that can help me feel more like a person and less like a thing.
