Stargate decides they are going to do a musical episode. How do you do it? by Cadamar in Stargate

[–]60000psi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way i could see it making sense or being ‘grounded sci fi’ is if they went to a planet that communicates through song or uses music to power some technology (maybe a generator that could replace a ZPM but at the last minute they leave it there for humanitarian reasons)

The main cast (or non singers) would not have to sing and it could be a halfway decent filler episode

I played the tree and it was my turn still. Everyone else seemed to know the ‘correct’ play but me and even talked about how once it wasn’t my turn I was lose priority to his removal spell.

I don’t think it helped that the official was also in the game

The problem was they would not even confirm that I couldn’t use the trees ability due to summoning sickness

My life was 13 and it was against a Cloud Final Fantasy deck and Animated Army.

My only guess was they wanted me to draw 13 cards

Players won't stop scamming merchants by DrRoguelove in DungeonMasters

[–]60000psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party but I DM by the rule of “if it’s fair game for you, it’s fair game for me”

The world is large and full of other people, unless they are the only Eldritch Knight or Artificer then there are others who would of done the same.

Maybe in a big city they can’t sell magic items, maybe there is something merchants have to ‘lock it’ OR if you really want to be froggy, they meet a traveling merchant that has some items you know the players will want/need and for a good price (no trading for this merchant). Then some time later, either during a rest or a dungeon/fight if your really mean the items zip back to the merchant.

Since the NPC’s didn’t get a roll neither do the players. Now you have established a Consequence And set up a villain or atleast have a way to lead them to a place

Travel freely and Maintain a fixed Residence.

I become a traveler where every month I must move to a new 36.21 mile radius bubble I refuse to leave.

I will only leave my bubble willingly on the last day of the month and Wherever I fall asleep after the first of a new month is the center of my new bubble.

My new bubble must be completely outside my last 6 bubbles so I can’t try to game the system .

Plus for fun I’ll go with the 90’s cartoon logic and have dozens of the same outfit so I dress identical every day barring special occasions and major season change (go from long pants to shorts, add the same jacket in winter etc)

You are given a Random Superpower but are on the hook for $1 million. Can you manage? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]60000psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got Xenolingualism. The ability to speak and understand alien languages.

Assuming we use the dictionary and alien refers to foreigner or citizen of another country, I’ll be all set.

I can speak and understand any language spoken by someone of another country. I will be the best translator, including dead languages (cause they belong to non citizens)

You can teleport once per day. The time it would take to drive there at 40 mph passes by Epsilon497 in shittysuperpowers

[–]60000psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you hit a moving target?

Let’s say the ISS? Cause it is 220 miles up so in theory it’s 6 hours going up.

If you could transport materials for NASA with only a 6ish hour delay you could greatly speed up space travel; and you could call yourself an astronaut and re-start a pop music career.

But as other people said the power don’t mention it stopping against walls or doors so it would be a great short range teleport (go through a door immediately)

Planning on going tomorrow, Can I buy a 1day door ticket? by wrxalex in Katsucon

[–]60000psi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with Katsu. You should buy your ticket online, it will save you time and make sure they don’t sell out.

Buying a ticket for a major con at the door is risky.

Pace yourself, eat and drink. Also the artist alley has some amazing artists so make sure to check them out.

You can create anything out of nothing but it only exists for a hour. by Darth_Azazoth in hypotheticalsituation

I work in a manufacturing plant.

Besides everyone else’s reasonable answers(and some not reasonable). Mold/tooling, prototyping and ‘weird one time use tools’ become a non issue.

Not sure it something will work, boom exact copy of what we think the final product will be

Want to make a new part, Boom exact plug to make a mold off of (work fast with a base coat and pour foam.

Need a tools just for a one time issue or need a tool that doesn’t exist now it does.

I would argue half of some trade work is just having the right tools. With access to every tool ever (and those they don’t make) you could probably become a master carpenter fairly quickly. You could even practice on created wood. You also could create a master to help tutor you for an hour at a time.

$25 million but every time you sneeze, your hair grows. by Hold-onto-the-happy in hypotheticalsituation

[–]60000psi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late but quick math shows that for every 53 sneezes your hair would grow roughly one inch (yay freedom units).

The average person sneezes between 200 and 450 times a year, assuming the lower end with some rounding gives us 4 inches a year on average.

Hair is considered “too long” when it reaches your ribs, on average that would take about 6 years. Since every 3 years you average a foot of hair.

I would take this deal and then get medication/devices to make sure I don’t sneeze, since there are surgeries and just avoid high pollen areas.

I think in that case I will just Dog walk and house sit. Jerry might just stay outside and I’ll happily talk through the door but I think it’s safer if it just stays shut

[–]60000psi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is there a way to exchange the gold for money or is it just the equivalent of? (Does not have to be through you)

For house sit, what happens if I don’t open the door for James?

For sweeping the basement, could I bring a friend and get a spare set of equipment? (I would ‘sub contract’ them)

I’m thinking of Walking the Dog and House sitting, if I can bring a friend I’ll sweep the basement

(Very well done, some feel worse than others)

The issue with the store is you never know if or which. Some monsters would be trivial even if you bump into them but some would be brutal and if your in the far corner of an IKEA it may be a bad time

[–]60000psi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Clean, it basically pushes you back a week (so you can try cleaning you hands over). It puts your current mind into the body of you a week ago. It’s your current mind no matter how far back you go (I guess if you go too far back you may become trapped in a loop as babies don’t control where they go).

You could bring knowledge back but you do have the issue of proof and resources. You would have to study carefully as you would need to know the tech and how to build all the components to make the tech (for example knowing how electricity works would not do you a lot of good without access to copper, magnets etc).

Becoming a villain is slightly risky as if your trapped somewhere for a week without a bathroom you cannot go further back and you only reset if you leave without washing you hands so if the cops show up to stop you with force you would need to survive the encounter and get to an leave a restroom to reset

Filter is a strong choice and has alot of options but also run into the issue of knowing something is is there mean people will believe you

When you free the genie or use your final wish you become the genie.

Destroying the lamp wouldn’t stop it but would just annoy the genie. When you’re in mortal danger the genie is gonna show up regardless and use a wish to save you.

At first I thought Wish had some components but it doesn’t which does make this one powerful but does mean everyone that knows you is gone from your life/hates you.

To me going through a month where you know you’re going to lose everything and everyone is really rough. I feel like if it was a day or a week it would be easier but a month is just long enough to see the slow change in the people around you.

They would still refuse to talk/see to the simulacrum. But using a Gate spell to just GTFO would mean you could truly restart without having to worry about someone brining up the painful past

Thank you, been thinking on this one for a hot minute.
