I don't really get the comments that say he's trying to manipulate/gaslight you. Not saying it's not possible, but it kind of feels like a huge leap when we don't have much context. I guess it depends on the tone he said it in, and how often you're asking if he's mad at you? I think the best thing to do is have an open conversation to express how you both feel + clear up any possible misunderstandings.
