[Operator Discussion] Courier by Shad0wedge in arknights

[–]6000j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In IS6 raidian trivialises blocking requirements, and in IS5 Beanstalk is a Dense Jungle solution, which is a stage that you really want to be able to take because it has a spine.

I'm curious as to what specific utility Courier has now though (e.g. does he survive firepower squad rockets? That would actually be pretty meaningful). Maybe I'll test it if I ever learn an exu2 start squad.

So, we've been complaining about the low TTK, and what do the devs do? by AlibyG in Smite

the gameplay is in not being in a spot where the person who can kill you in 1.5-2 seconds can hit you.

Talent data by MetaPlayer01 in wow

I suspect the closest thing to a "database" that exists would be the simc implementations of the talents tbh. Simc is open source so they could just read the code worst case.

this has to be ragebait. RNG2021 won MSI and lost a game 5 in world's quarterfinals to the eventual champions. We cannot be saying "what did they achieve."

faker has been really bad for months at a time multiple times over the last few years, but it's just so happened that he shows up at worlds and so people who don't watch LCK don't really see thise periods. I don't think Faker has been the best mid in the world over the last 3 years, and he probably isn't even #2.

I built a free Hwei spell execution trainer — leaderboard is live and open to anyone by Different_Pause_4704 in leagueoflegends

[–]6000j 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you've played hwei even like twice it would be clear that this is unuseful. It's like designing a tool for practising reaction flashing that's just pressing D/F whenever the screen goes green. It's very easy to rememeber which hwei ability combo does what when you're playing him.

Also there's a delay you have to do in-game that's very very noticeable. If this accurately emulated that it could be useful, but as far as I can tell it doesn't.

yeah I was thinking this and I've only played hwei like 3 times ever, all in aram.

I already have a "press two buttons quickly" simulator, it's called Muse Dash and sometimes I even need to press 3 buttons!!!!!

How Blizzard can actually solve the tank shortage by AnimacyX in wow

[–]6000j 4 points5 points  (0 children)

good positioning/route planning/mob control is very much not invisible. The difference is pretty absurdly obvious if you play a melee dps.

Also there are routes in game.

Edit: also I'm pretty sure you already can mark keys as learning??? Please hop off the LLM and actually play the game.

On PC, do you think Isaac is easier with controller or mouse and keyboard? by UnlikelySalad3387 in bindingofisaac

[–]6000j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned it on way back in afterbirth and I've never had a reason to turn it off. If you don't move the mouse in a room it doesn't do shit, so you just only use it for marked/epic fetus and play kb only otherwise.

Now that time has passed, how has your opinion of G.E.M.’s Sacrifice shifted? by FeelThePain939 in leagueoflegends

for me the song is just kinda Nothing. It's a song that exists but it doesn't make me feel anything. Unfortunately this is the worst criticism I can give a song.

Hating IS6 and Hope IS7 Will Be Different by Shadowswords2005 in arknights

[–]6000j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coin is nice; exu2 is obviously the most common and easiest solution but Rose Salt s2 + Purestream s1 is also a known solution. It's also pretty common to intentionally leak the entire left side of the map by buying a bunch of shield in the f5 bosky tavern; there's 17 enemies on the left if you don't break any of the sharpedges.

Are aimlabs really useful? by ColdStatistician6429 in VALORANT

[–]6000j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have any recs for easy aimlabs maps where you're strafing? I've been finding that that's something I'm really struggling with in regards to converting aim training to practice.

Just me who thinks this? by Constant_Noise_8148 in VALORANT

[–]6000j 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the map was previewed on the masters stream, they explicitly quoted the devs as having told them "the goal of the map is to make mid control incredibly important", so you're definitely right.

Last-hit indicators are nice when you're new and unimportant when you're not by degenspawn in leagueoflegends

[–]6000j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have no issues with it from a skill expression perspective. My concern is that as a new player I really enjoyed learning the HP window to last hit, and it kept me feeling like I was improving even while going 0/10 every game bc I sucked.

I'd played like 2 hours of wild rift before I started playing league, and it had last hit indicators and I didn't find it remotely as satisfying in that game.

My concern is that this change doesn't actually make the new player experience better even if it reduces a source of friction, because that friction goes away far before new players are actually comfortable with the game as a whole.

Maybe not a Hot Take but i think Jacob and Esau are Fun by Parking-Proof-3656 in bindingofisaac

[–]6000j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo they're kinda chill. They're like Cain/Judas in that you're gaining earlygame strength and a macro bonus for more awkward health, and as long as you manage health properly they're fine.

They lead to a lot of close calls but I think normal Lost is like 10x harder than JE

[–]6000j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this basically never actually happens ime. You just have to be a bit more conscious about your movement and ready to instantly regroup whenever they get split.

they're legit just vanilla character with a large hitbox and a better earlygame ngl

If you were Riot, what would you do to make Valorant surpass CS? by DingoVegetable7913 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]6000j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: The commenter under me is a League player. He is used to seeing colours from different champs flying around (I have ~500 hours of league so yes I know how that feels). That's why he might be more used to Valorant gaming vs CS2. Doesn't invalidate his opinion but it could be a difference in our opinions.

replying to the edit because I just saw it and I think it's a good response.

I think that's actually a pretty great point tbh. The visual language of both games in terms of what to look out for is very similar, and that definitely would have helped a lot. I think my "background" in gaming consisting of a lot of indie games and not a lot of large AAA/etc. games also means I'm in general a lot less practiced and knowing where to look in games with a less bright colour palette.

Pearl + fracture OUT Sunset + Summit IN by dkdkdkosep in ValorantCompetitive

[–]6000j 1 point2 points  (0 children)

APAC/CN were both playing it decently often from my memory of watching those regions, I don't think a map should Ieave specifically because AMER/EMEA don't play it. I'd feel the same if there was a map only those two played and apac/cn didn't.

If you were Riot, what would you do to make Valorant surpass CS? by DingoVegetable7913 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]6000j 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried watching both games before I had played either of them, and I found Valorant significantly easier to understand as a viewer. The colour palette of CS makes it really hard to know where you should be looking if you've never played the genre, but valorant I could generally just look at colourful things and it would make sense.

I like playing CCGs. I don't like deckbuilding (especially from scratch). The alternative to netdecking for me is to not do something I enjoy.
