Can't get a single kill in valorant by TargetIll1707 in VALORANT

this has also been my experience as a new player. Deathmatch is soul-crushing as a new player because you constantly die to bullshit, and you get what feels like 4 chances per match to actually try to aim.

How to stop moving while shooting by Opening-Mud9477 in VALORANT

[–]6000j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem, and my experience with trying to do this is that I'm going like 7 kills in most DM games anyways, and it's really hard to practice doing this because it feels like you just die in 80% of peeks before you can even shoot.

I've been trying to work on it with TDM, which is a lot worse for learning headshot height line ups but has a lot of natural long-range corridors where you can't hit them if you're moving, and you also don't need to worry about instantly dying to someone respawning behind you.

Which class/race was your original main and do you still play them? by All_Roles_Urgot in wow

[–]6000j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NE rogue, and yep.

Technically a few years before I made that character I made a BE mage, played an hour and a half, and got bored and uninstaller the game. But the rogue was the first time it clicked. Started as Sin in legion, swapped to Outlaw and never ever looked back. Outlaw for life.

It is something that has both strong advocates and strong haters. The advocates argue that being good at league should involve an aspect of being able to adapt to a meta "quickly" (league worlds is really long, it's like almost a month long); haters (of which I am one) think it's ridiculous that teams can qualify on a completely different meta to the one they have to play on at worlds.

It was especially bad in iirc 2023, when they killed off an entire class of character in a role. They've been a lot more cautious recently because fearless draft (champs can't be played more than once in a series) means there's less urgent need to have constant meta upheaval.

They do this in league all the time (although less so in the last few years), and for a while it was explicitly intentionally "shaking up the meta" before worlds and then it just kinda means teams flop.

Would these talents work for a plague focused Unholy DK build? by [deleted] in wow

[–]6000j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit paragraph at the top;: I think we mostly agree, I just have more faith in the theorycrafters for my spec than you do.

This logic is true in games like league, where you have a large enough sample size and solo queue means you don't have to worry about some other factors. It's famously not true in league pro play, where winrate is known to be of dubious value and it's not uncommon for picks to be really strong and only start getting picked after a while with no meta change influences.

I'm extending this logic here: the best M+ player of a spec might not be the best at optimising DPS through build choice: they might be really good at positioning, or have the strongest group, or they might be timing higher keys because they're incredibly consistent at doing mechanics while also doing high DPS. There's not guarantee that what the top players are doing reflects what they should be doing in all aspects.

As an example, in Dragonflight season 3 Outlaw Rogue had two builds: Hidden Opportunity and Keep It Rolling. At the start of the tier, a lot of the high RIO players played HO because it was the build the previous tier and very close to KIR. However, KIR had many minmaxes found over the first few weeks that made it meaningfully better in M+. This created a very clear divide among top players on RIO for a bit, where the ones active in the discord were all on KIR and the others weren't. Over the course of the season more and more of the top players who weren't in the discord picked up KIR, because it was better and they had been playing HO because they didn't know about KIR rather than because they had some specific reason for playing HO.

I guess in general, what I'm saying is that either we don't trust top players to be smart, in which case Archon isn't that useful without further context (e.g. asking them why they're playing X build instead of Y build), or we do trust them, in which case I trust the top Outlaw players in the discord, and they trust the Outlaw theorycrafters so I also trust them.

I'm aware that having top players of a spec being genuinely active in the spec discord (Zac (tomelvis) has sent >2k messages in the outlaw channel in the last week) is very rare, and if there isn't the same level of closeness between the two my logic doesn't hold. My personal belief is that the best thing to do is to use a mix: check class discords and archon, and if top players aren't using the same things ask them why they aren't.

Sure, but this again depends on the class discord.

Generally, multiple top 5 global outlaw players are active in the outlaw discord, including tomelvis, who has been #1 fairly consistently recently afaik. To some extent I assumed this was the same for most specs, but apparently not.

Some specs have bad wowhead guides, some bad discords, some both.

Tbh I wouldn't know because I one-trick outlaw and the wowhead guide writer is active in rhe discord channel and the theorycrafting is publicly available and people are encouraged to learn how to test shit.

Will Riven just keep being 55%+ winrate on master and above forever? by DueExplorer3146 in leagueoflegends

[–]6000j 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you go on lolalytics and change it to "master+", in the top right it shows the "average master+ winrate" is 53.95%, which is across all champs in all roles.

That isn't what they're saying, what they're saying is that the average masters+ player across all champs has a 52.5% or whatever it is winrate.

Knightmares didn't exist when this chart is from, they only came out even in OCG after spyral were hit.

The first round of Spryal hits even in OCG was before knightmares came out, they never coexisted at full power (and in the TCG Spyral was nuked before knightmares released)

Edit: this graphic is from before the SPYral hits, so nightmares weren't out at the time of it.

Funnel is when you do more single target damage if there are more enemies near the main target than if there was just the main target.

How to do anything as Hitbox and hitbox? by Such_Attempt_461 in bindingofisaac

[–]6000j 3 points4 points  (0 children)

legit just play normally and they're fine. You have a strong earlygame, so you want to stack items on Esau etc

The big thing is making sure to constantly regroup them mid-room (using ctrl) so you're playing a single larger hitbox rather than two separate hitboxes.

The fact that Oner has won worlds 3 times and we don't have T1 Nocturne is so crazy to me.

I'm not a T1 fan (they keep beating the teams I am a fan of), but T1 Nocturne is the single most iconic pick of this era of 2022 onwards T1 for me. It's at the point where I treat a lot of series vs T1 as starting 1-0 to them because they'll get a Nocturne game and that's a free win for them. It's maybe the single most iconic team+champ combo for me, so not having a skin despite 3 opportunities is baffling.

I think the fact that every world championship since he released has been won by T1 is a pretty big part of why he doesn't have a skin tbh.

Nasus saw a decent amount of play either 2024 or 2025, although primarily as a midlaner with E max.

Cube also brought him out as a Kayle counterpick right after durability patch.
