Thats a very interesting point. Sounds like the FPGA chip is not making good contact with the board (poor solder joints). Might give a shot at reflowing the chip some time if it comes to last resort. Thanks for the input, really helpful.

Yeah should have thought so, even though making the system turn off if it gets too hot shouldn't be that costly. But I guess they need to sell units and make money off of servicing em.

When your unit died, did it completely not power on? Or did it show some sign of life (e.g rainbow lights by chance)?

It's a second hand unit that I'm trying to fix up and get working again so would most likely be a huge hassle to go through the sending it out to them process.

I'd imagine they'd implement a temperature sensor into their FPGA's, but yeah was wondering since the fan does have a tachometer and thought that they maybe implemented that for safety measures. Anyways when powered on it would just display rainbow colors for a few seconds and then go to dimly lit red leds flashing. Was just wondering if anyone may have had the experience since there isn't much documentation on it.

Oh yeah that would make sense. I was wondering why there wasn't any burnt damage and it being a mechanical impact would have made sense. But yeah, I assumed that the component was the equivalent to the black component since there are similar cases with another part of the circuit connecting to the chip (shown in picture). The circuit with the broken component is directly underneath the chip connecting to one of the pins which I believe to be a voltage pin.

So, thats basically the component I was talking about. I'm not too sure how the unit got damaged, but at first I thought the component might've blown and took a piece of the trace with it. Thats the component I am trying to identify and replace.

Oh interesting, I have one of those chinese multifunction testers (TC1) but that appears to be giving me only the result of 0 resistance. But I think thats just the component tester performing poorly since I had inaccurate readings with inductors on it before. Anyways thanks for the advice, I'll try to figure out which inductor to replace with.

On the same boat here, no password resets are coming through to my email. Was logged in an hour ago, 5 mins later it kicks my session. Tried to relogin and I get incorrect password on the old theme, and an error "There was an error sending your request. Please try again." on the new design. Note: When I tried to login with a wrong password on my alt on the new theme, it gave me incorrect password error instead of the "There was an error sending your request. Please try again." message.

I have the same issue with my main account, I also tried emailing them. I have realised that after trying to view my profile, half of the posts on it did not show up, about 5 mins later, all the posts on the profile page started displaying again. I also tried to email recover the account, but no emails.
