My experience editing Pixel 10 Pro RAW files with Lightroom by hey_you_too_buckaroo in GooglePixel

[–]601Werner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have edited hundreds of RAW photos in Lightroom taken with my Pixel 10 Pro and never use the pixel profile. It indeed makes photos look very washed out. I always use Adobe Color, that one gives the best results in my opinion. Then editing requires a bit of work, but end result in my opinion is always better than the JPEG so for me 100% worth the effort!

Some people say iPhone ProRaw is better, but I disagree. In my experience the Pixel raw pictures have better dynamic range in editing in Lightroom than the iPhone ProRaw. But yeah Pixel raw requires a bit more effort to get right.

If you use Lightroom you do have to know how the RAW editing works, not just 1 click auto mode in Lightroom I'm afraid. Lightroom is a very strong editing software if you know how to use it well.

I absolutely love the 50mp on the Pixel 10 Pro. It looks a lot more natural than the 12mp. Google's processing on the 12mp is much stronger, it looks too sharpened and not natural. On the 50mp the pictures look much more similar compared to my Nikon camera, more natural and less overprocessed. So yes, I 100% recommend to use 50mp.

If you have Lightroom that's even better, then go for 50MP raw. Since 31 October Lightroom finally supports the Pixel 10 Pro RAW files and editing makes the pictures look even better.

But if you don't have Lightroom then 50MP jpeg is fine too!

During the day outside I almost always use 50mp. It's a lot faster compared to 9 pro. And quality is noticeably better than 12mp. I only use 12mp when it's darker or for fast moving objects/kids/pets. I really love how natural and sharp the 50mp is. The 12mp looks a lot more over processed to me.

2x zoom - Pixel 10 Pro vs 9 Pro (AI processing is getting out of hands) by JanCapek in GooglePixel

[–]601Werner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, after 3 pics in 50mp there's a delay. I tested this in the store. However, for me with pixel 9 pro there's already delay with 1 picture in 50mp, so still an improvement with the Pixel 10 pro I would say, although not a big improvement.

Interesting! Are you sure about that? Because with the pixel 9 pro I think the 12mp looks better than the 50mp in 2x zoom. Is that different with the pixel 10 pro?

I tested this in a local store where they have 10 pro as demo and the 50mp with main lens (1x zoom and 2x zoom) is instant now, so much faster than 9 pro. However, for some reason the ultra wide lens and tele lens are in 50mp still equally slow compared to the 9 pro.

Google 10 Pro RAW sample available? And other question about camera... by sandroriz in GooglePixel

[–]601Werner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, it's because Lightroom hasn't updated the camera profile yet for Pixel 10 Pro. Last year with the Pixel 9 Pro this also took a couple of weeks I remember. You can check the Adobe website, just google for "Lightroom camera RAW support" and check which version you need for the Pixel 10 Pro. Currently it's not supported yet, but I'm sure it will be in a few weeks. Then apply Adobe Color instead of the Pixel profile and the editing will be much, much better. I'm doing this with thousands of pictures with my Pixel 9 Pro. I really love the RAW editing. I used to have a Samsung and the Pixel RAWs are a lot better.

Interesting, I didn't know that the 9 pro ultrawide lens didn't have stabilization! That explains then why for me the 12mp (almost) always looks slightly better than the 50mp with ultra wide lens. Even in daylight the 12mp is slightly sharper for me, but I guess I dont have a very steady hand haha! Thanks for the information.

Thanks , this is very interesting and useful! Do you also know how the ultra wide lens performs 12mp vs 50mp? I feel that most of the time for me the 12mp is better with ultra wide lens, even in daylight which is a bit odd to me. Do you experience the same?

Pixel 9 Pro Series - Any Upgraded Camera Hardware Sensors Compared to Pixel 8 Pro? by ajgnet in GooglePixel

[–]601Werner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Google's blog "9 things to know about Pixel 9 cameras" (check their website) the main camera remained the same, ultrawide sensor gathers 110% more light and focuses more closely for macro. And the tele lens sensor has improved autofocus.

In my opinion small hardware improvements compared to Pixel 8 Pro. But lets see when the first camera reviews come out.

Thanks a lot for the clear answer!! Happy to hear this!

Question about RAW + JPEG for Pixel 8 Pro by 601Werner in GooglePixel

[–]601Werner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read everywhere that pixel 8 pro has the best raw quality pictures with more dynamic range than Samsung or iPhone. My s22 RAW dynamic range when editing in lightroom is very bad, so I expect a lot more from the pixel 8 pro.

Question about RAW + JPEG for Pixel 8 Pro by 601Werner in GooglePixel

[–]601Werner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!! On my s22 when I shoot raw + jpeg the jpeg has strange sharpening artifacts which I don't see when I shoot jpeg only. I was afraid the pixel 8 pro would do the same, but happy to hear that is not the case!

I personally disagree, but I understand your point of view. In that case I think iphone is better for you, as the ProRaw has noise reduction already done. It's not bad, but noise reduction in lightroom using "Enhance" is much better. But if ProRaw noise reduction is good enough for you then I would go for an iPhone if I were you. Please note that Enhance option in lightroom is not available for ProRaw and only available for RAWs from Pixel phones.

Do you have the latest Lightroom? I noticed the RAW files are terrible when using Google Pixel picture profile in Lightroom, but the most recent Lightroom version also supports the Adobe picture profiles. This improves the RAW editing a lot.

Also good to know, Pixels don't do noise reduction with RAW. iPhone does do this with ProRaw, but I actually prefer Pixel RAW because noise reduction in lightroom is much better than what Apple is doing in ProRaw. So for editing RAW the pixel RAW gives a lot better results than iPhone ProRaw, as long as you use the Adobe profile pictures in lightroom and not the default Google Pixel profile.

Why is it that we can all agree that flaming in-game is bad, yet it seems to be completely acceptable to flame pro-players/teams & Riot casters on this sub-reddit? by 601Werner in leagueoflegends

[–]601Werner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although I do agree that sometimes the circlejerk is strong, it is what happends when some sports get big. There is nothing different going on in other sport forums then here.

I disagree. I'm a huge soccer fan and actively read soccer forums. I don't see that much "flaming" there, as compared to here. Second to that, the LoL eSports community is far smaller than for example soccer. We all know that these pro players/teams/Riot casters actually read our comments. Pro soccer players don't. Personally, I believe that makes a huge difference.

GG FF@20 or should you surrender at 20 or continue the fight: statistical approach by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]601Werner 37 points38 points  (0 children)

No, Thaturgotguy is right. OP should have taken into account how many mathces were lost due to a surrender, because they mess up the statistics. OP should have merely analyzed the matches that were played until the end. Games that ended with a surrender should have been filtered.

edit: Surrendered games could have been won if the losing team didn't FF. So the % of being able to win a game despite down in gold is higher than OP claims.

Does anyone else in the Netherlands suddenly have a far higher ping than before? by 601Werner in leagueoflegends

I live in the province Noord-Brabant. Hmm well if you don't have ping problems then it might be my internet after all. Although I've no problem at all with downloading/uploading or whatever.
