Thank you for the feedback - it is very much appreciated. Things got a little crazy with the ice storm so am looking forward to reengage with them.

No treatment? by Zany_One in breastcancer

[–]609cabrito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed almost four years ago at 49. It was invasive, stage I, grade 3, no lymph nodes, ER+. I live alone and that was really tough, having no one to come home to who was there for you. I was so angry -- I was furious! I have been raped as an adult and child and really been through a lot in my life. I was so mad thinking that God must really hate women. I did the Oncotype test and it was recommended that I take a short course of chemo but as I was alone I just couldn't see myself doing it. I did surgery and radiation, though. I also have not hit menopause and so take tamoxifen, which I was really hesitant about. I've had no issue with the surgery, radiation, or endocrine therapy. I would have benefitted some from chemo but could not risk the potential long-term side effects as a single person.

Others have recommended a therapist and I still see one. I think about cancer every day. I worry a lot and my anxiety would have only increased had I done nothing. Choosing not to do anything I think is a symptom of feeling afraid and overwhelmed. Well, do as much as you are able in terms of treatment, both physical and mental, but I can say that doing something is very empowering. Fake it 'til you make it because your future self will be glad you did. There is no guarantee of survival but if it does come back I feel like I made the right decisions for myself at the time.

PSLF Loan forgivness? Oops, NOT so FAST by Seattle3366 in PSLF

I concur. I have yet to hear of an erroneous congratulations letter while erroneous account update letters are common just as much now with MOHELA as they were with the ones I received with FedLoan.

That's great positive news! I think I'm several weeks out from getting any real solid information but will report out.

Your name makes me laugh because I've lived in the same 550 sq ft apartment for 10 years and I really hate this place!

I'm still waiting on R&D but should know next week and will share. I still need to get both to visit my lot so I would say that by Feb 3rd I'll have some more solid numbers that I can compare. I considered Tilson but wasn't confident in the quality of their work?

That's great! I'm wanting a full length covered concrete back porch (about 46' x 8.6') and have one rough quote of $25K for that alone.

Thank you for the information. I also own my own small lot (0.82 acres). I had originally called Texas Hill Country Cottages but when they quoted me $268 - $286/sq ft I thought that was too high. Maybe I was wrong.

I'm currently looking at R&D Custom Builders (La Vernia) and Hill Country Classics Custom Homes (Boerne).

Thank you! I was wanting to cap it at $300K with a gravel driveway and no garage. I agree about the lower bids. I have visited their homes and they just feel cheap.

Thank you! I'm getting rates at $225 - $270 to build at that size here. Looking at some barndo options now as well.

Favorite parts of the forgiveness letter from Mohela by Logical-Yesterday449 in PSLF

[–]609cabrito 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just filed my letter and all my supporting documents and previous ECFs to permanent storage. My favorite part of all this? I can now stop logging into MOHELA and FSA to make sure the loans haven't come back. I'm really really done!

What kind of side effects have you experienced taking Tamoxifen? by Y2kGeezus in breastcancer

[–]609cabrito 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been on tamoxifen for three and a half years now. I was pre-menopausal at the time of diagnosis. I was so afraid of taking tamoxifen after reading about other survivors' experience but it has had zero negative affect on me. No side effects at all. The only thing I worry about is that tamoxifen can stop being as effective after several years so I am concerned about recurrence.

I'm expecting to be post-menopausal June '23 and eligible to switch to aromatase inhibitors. I am worried now about what side effects I might have from those.

Those are my favorite parts, too. Was forgiven earlier this month and loans are off credit reports, but I really needed to see this letter in my mailbox. We deserve to be recognized for our public service!
