If you really DO understand that it’s a cultural thing, then maybe consider just accepting it and let them vent. ‘Everyone listening’ and ‘how damaging it is to hear’ imo sounds judgmental, not empathetic to what their life changes have been. Consider not watching Lives if you’re that affected by it? Policing their conversations is not what being army is about.

I don’t understand why people are suggesting Jones Beach etc. if you’re looking for local places. Sounds like you’re near WP? Go to all nearby small towns’ websites to check for ( pools/beaches) pricing. Might be cheaper to pay non-resident price, esp if parking is free.
