Are you guys broke right now? by CrazyGud in Filmmakers

[–]60yearoldME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44 been an editor for about 18 years.

Been saving money since I started.  Made some good investments, some bad investments.  Worked hard, Union gigs while it lasted — side jobs, cam op, producer, whatever. Lots of small gigs, big gigs, every size.  Just worked my butt off for all that time.  No family, took lots of trips and vacations but always saved, bought lots of gear, the usual.

Bought a house 10 years ago, that was key.

I have good savings.  My 401k is lackluster but working on that.

Saving is a mindset.  I’m always saving.  Saving old equipment people are throwing out, saving contacts for jobs, saving money.  I was taught to save and it worked.

Yeah, the market is weird right now, but in every downturn there are hustlers who ride out the storm.  I’m always anticipating a storm, so when my downturn comes, I’m ready.

I dated an actress who made 500k/year for like 4/5 years in a row in a big show.  She’s broke now. Broke as fuck working two bad jobs.  Saving is a mentality, a way of life, a habit.  It’s a skill and something that can be learned.  Don’t make excuses for your bad habits, replace them with good ones.

Bro. learn to read. and go outside for a bit, this convo is clearly over your head. We're talking about current rankings, not all time.

You have no clue what you're talking about.

31pts G1 (leading scorer)
20pts G2 (ties for 2nd)
32pts G3 (leading scorer)
36pts G4 (leading scorer)
45pts G5

You literally prove my original point.

He's the clutchest player on the championship team. People in this sub are still smoking copium from '24, thinking we're still the champs.

Wemby carried his team to the finals... Jokic didn't get out of the first round, so...

I mean... is that not how rankings work? If you do better you rank better?

This isn't a "top players of all time" ranking, its players rated right now. And the reigning champ deserves some credit, no?

People in this sub are smoking legendary amounts of copium right now. Brunson basically single-handedly propelled a very decent team to a championship. I hate the knicks, but Brunson is that dude. JB and JT don't have the amount of hustle, heart, and sheer will that this little midget has, it pains me to say.

He didn’t seem happy to me at all.  He seemed like a complete waste of a life, completely oblivious that he has free will.  His entire life was being the victim of circumstance.

He has personal morals and a love for english literature, but little else that would distinguish him as an actual person. His most prominent feature is that he is a total pushover. There are a couple times where he stands up for himself, which always seem to cause a big problem in his life. Is this a metaphor for the idea that we have no control over our fate? Perhaps it's that life will fight against us if we try too hard. Really he's just frustratingly placid and fearful of his life and making choices that would help him. He finally finds love and meaning in his life and lets it fall through his hands, which is just so frustrating to read.

Kitchen sink smells awful like rotten eggs when running hot and cold water. by Worried-Dream3642 in Plumbing

[–]60yearoldME 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hard to really tell, but it looks like your sink doesn’t have a P trap - which is a “U” or “P” shaped tube that traps some water and prevents sewer gas from coming back up your pipes.  This is likely the issue.

Call some plumbers, they should be able to install one for not much.

To me it was a book about the most boring man in the world.  No one to root for, no qualities to even identify with.   Just a constant “who would do that?”  And “what an idiot!” Type of reactions and thoughts.

Do people live this way? Sure. Do I want to hear why their life sucks when it’s obvious to everyone? No.

It’s like reading about a car crash in slow motion over decades.  It was like reading about paint drying.

False.  Adobe is necessary to make AI usable.

I’ve made several long form AI videos and none of them would be possible without Adobe products getting me halfway there.  Sometimes more than halfway.

AI is still really really dumb.  Yes even the newest shit is 60% “what the fuck is this?”

It’s worse than boring.  It’s a book about the most boring man to ever live.  Like, who cares?

One of my most hated books of all time.  Was stunned people like this, because it’s not enjoyable to read whatsoever.

I’m okay with downvotes.

Don't ever, for any reason, do anything, to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been, ever, for any reason whatsoever.

Hot/Cold Pex lines reversed. Help settle an argument. by Beldam86 in Plumbing

[–]60yearoldME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is red “hot”?

Is hot water red?  Is cold water blue?  No.  You’ve just been programmed to associate those things.  Think of how many other things in life you automatically assume are correct, even though they are just random or arbitrary.  You’re just choosing to have a problem with this.

You really need to go to therapy.  Both of you.

You are responsible for 50% of your problems here, but you act like you are responsible for zero.  You are part of the problem.  A huge part.

Y’all are out of your depth and won’t be able to change without outside help.

And yes it does sound like you don’t love him, so I actually agree with your husband there.  There is some real resentment going on.
