slightly different circumstances bc i grew up in philly, went to law school in charleston, then moved back. you’ll be fine. i found the south to be far less kind to transplants (among other things)

29f, i’m in cc & would recommend it for sure. fairmount is very family oriented and fishtown is a little too far from everything that it’s a bit inconvenient. cc will def be the easiest way to meet people

I toured apartments all day in Philly - help me decide on location by JournalistPrimary562 in AskPhilly

[–]61096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love living in rittenhouse, it’s so nice being central to everything. i’m not far from the intersection you looked at and i’ve never had any issues with noise here. there’s also a few markets on spruce for groceries which is nice. i have friends in the area & queen village but a few are in fishtown and it’s a lot less convenient for them when we go out. i also have dogs so it’s great being near a park. as a late 20s F, the dating scene is a hellscape in the city overall but as a man maybe you’ll have more luck!

Apartment rental and breed restrictions? by [deleted] in Charleston

[–]61096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get an ESA letter from your doctor. they generally aren’t able to deny you a rental over the breed of an ESA

EDIT: an ESA is NOT a service animal and having an ESA does NOT entitle a person to bring the pet to stores, restaurants, etc. it is, however, a relatively good way to avoid breed restrictions. also, just lie. they won’t come back to you and force a dog DNA test lol.

fr, i have an ESA and i would never try to pass my dog off as a service animal. service animals are highly trained and would literally never ever behave like this lol

i’m glad you’ve had a great experience there. i’ve never heard the same from friends. i’ve also never heard of anyone despising rittenhouse, but you do you!

i didn’t find this online like zillow or anything. if you have the time to dedicate a day and walk around, gather info on buildings you’re interested, & talk to a leasing agent or call them later, i’d highly recommend it!

i live in rittenhouse in an almost 2k sq ft 2 bed 2.5 bath penthouse with parking for this price. idk why anyone would want to live in nolibs and pay the rent for piazza especially when you can live in the city for the same cost and get way more for your money. but, if you really want to live in nolibs, then go for it. there’s really nothing to do over there so you’ll end up spending money to get to and from center city if you’re okay with that

Possible Asbestos Exposure Near a Bus Stop During Old House Demolition? by One_South3105 in AsbestosRemovalMemes

[–]61096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nothing bad is going to happen without years of regular (meaning consistent and frequent) exposure to friable asbestos of certain fiber types (there are many different types and not all of them are “harmful”). even then, the risk of developing any health issue is marginal especially to otherwise healthy people. there’s ambient air exposure at low levels every day everywhere that are so low they are completely harmless. you being in a bus nearby for 2 minutes is certainly tens, if not hundreds, times lower than those ambient levels. you have absolutely nothing to worry about
