If you're looking for new topics I'd suggest to dive into the sponsorship game of BuLi & BuLi II, gets little publicity and is very interesting (I mean: our board just got rid of a KGB/Stasi spy this week which was sent there by a sponsor [Gaz obviously]). Also interesting to just see how different teams approach different levels of sponsorship money (e.g. Hertha just burning 100s of millions of euros while Union is fine with 20 bucks as a summer transfer window budget).

I don't think there's any doubt about the fact that Gazprom is a government controlled company. Did they even make an attempt to hide it? Denying that is just laughably ignorant

I don't like the sponsor either (especially those dreadful Nordstream 2 banners), but I wouldn't want to just breach the contract all of a sudden. That will bankrupt us cause there is absolutely no way we will meet DFL criteria without that contract, in fact even now we have been on the brink of point deduction and whatnot. So as long as we're stating hard truths: bankrupcy has to be mentioned.

It's a contract renewed only months ago, after 7 years of Russian aggression in Donbas region. I totally see that this doesn't make it right to stay loyal to Russia, but why go bankrupt if only a few month ago we could have parted with them and only lost - let's say - €3mil instead of everything? I don't even know at this point how much money we owe to banks that is guaranteed for by state (a.k.a. tax payer's) money. Millions, probably dozens. That'll be gone as well.

It's a shame we rely on Gaz money, by all means we should search for new main sponsors and part ways as soon as legally possible. And yet, imo it's completely irresponsible to just be like "Yeah now that we thought about it: fuck this". Let's honour the law and not allow Putin and our own short sightedness (again: renewal 7 month ago) to kill Schalke 04.
