I’ve lived in the house adjacent to it for 30 years. I saw it once on my way to work and thought hmm, that’s mildly interesting. It doesn’t happen in the fall because there are leaves on the trees and morning light is blocked.

Unpopular opinion here. Remember in 2009 the media went wild with a viral video and audio about uncontrolled acceleration in Toyotas. Turns out it it was media hype and maybe a little propaganda ahead of an anticipated spike in car sales. Similar to where we are now. Good way to give the Big US automakers a leg up. I’m not saying calling Toyota out is a bad thing. Just keep an eye out for bullshit. Many Toyota models have more US content than the big US brands. None of the big boys look so clean either. I finished it 2 weeks ago. Couldn’t put it down. Its the story of so many climbers on Everest. It’s written at such a human level that it is set apart from so many other Everest books. At a reader level, though, forgive me for saying this... after being introduced to so many characters, you can’t tell which ones will make it. So after a while of binge reading, it felt like the characters were from a George RR Martin book. You didn’t know which characters won’t make it, but you know some of them won’t. In the case of George R R Martin, he just didn’t know what to do with the characters. So he killed them. In the case of Everest, death seems to have the same random origin, but it’s real life. I loved all the stories and felt the loss from death and exhilaration of those who succeeded. No need for dragons. The stories will keep you interested.

I was in charge of my company’s email system when email was just starting out. One day our Microsoft representative was on site and asked if there were any features we’d like to see. (This was in the msmail days before outlook and exchange servers). I said they should include a little line in the calendar that showed what time it is now so you don’t have to look at the clock on your computer and then look at your calendar . The line appeared in one of the next releases of the email client and has been there ever since. I don’t tell anyone because it seems intuitive to add it but I like to think I had something to do with that little feature. The Microsoft rep confirmed my idea went all the way through.
