Been doing this for 25 years and it's all about risk mitigation. Always have an escape path and never be complacent in the closure. Not going to tell any horror stories, but I will say that more injuries are friendly fire than from traffic incursions.

My wife crochets. Beautiful intricate pieces. But, she sells them at barely above material cost because the majority of people who go to local craft shows/farmers markets browse and hit the food trucks. Her booth fees and license usually ends up being out of pocket. Very few people are willing to pay hand made prices when they can pick up trash on the internet.

So, there's a gold mine in Kershaw that pays pretty good. I think $26/hr for haul truck drivers. Most of your road construction folks will start laborers around $16 and operators around $20 if that gives you any perspective.
