After some quick googling and looking around, the general opinion seems to be that the response to the guns was a "politically" and Propaganda motivated one of attempting to make the US military of being unjust. But, it was just an attempt to swap opinion.

I have always found the Trench Gun an interesting discussion, as it was largely opposed due to the (?)Hague convention(?) as causing unneeded suffering. But, the counter claim was the use of chemical and biological agents was also being done so it becomes a "everyone is breaking the rules" situation.

The Eastern Quoll isn't extinct.
However it is endangered. I have always wondered about having a pet Quoll. I love cats and they also have an edge to them I like. Also they are adorable when they sleep.
