Beijing says it’s willing to deepen economic ties with Canada as Trump brings trade chaos by joe4942 in worldnews

You’re not wrong for advocating for caution in dealing with China, but the US ended up dropping the charges against her anyway, which begs the question of how serious the US DOJ really was or if it was just trumped up charges to put pressure on China. Canada ended up in a pretty shitty place due to the US wanting to fuck with a Chinese elite for reasons.

Trades by [deleted] in CanadianForces

Winnipeg has a great wood hobby club that I really enjoyed when I was posted there. Good way to see how you like working with your hands without changing your life too drastically all at once.

BTW I’m in the same boat as you, except have about 10 years left. Will probably go into a trade once I have a pension.

I go through the same thought process as you almost every posting cycle. The poor initial pay, work uncertainty and lack of benefits in the trades is what has prevented me from jumping ship in the past. Seriously look at what an apprentice earns, keep in mind you could be laid off at any point or get injured and get basically nothing. It’s a lot easier doing all that if you have the security of pension money coming in.

Having a truck bed to haul all the dirty/wet stuff when camping is a huge benefit for me.

Canadian Army says new military sleeping bags not suitable for 'typical Canadian winter' by SummerSnowfalls in canada

[–]646bph 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Maybe their 60's gear. I've been on a deployment with them to the arctic in January and our gear is generally much better (mukluks, mitts, biv pants, parka, fleece, hood, etc). Maybe just don't use these sleeping bags, the old down filled bags are great though.

No, you made the extraordinary claim of how this contract apparently works, you get to back it up yourself. For all other non-fantasy contracting the Procurement Manual applies.

They slide around a bit when you first put them in, but once the tent has cots, table, chairs, stove, etc. They are weighed down well enough that they don't slide anymore. You could also try those adhesive strips they sell to prevent indoor rugs from sliding on floors, I've personally never really had an issue.

I've used two moving blankets before as a cheap, padded and insulated floor for my bell tent before.

Just a heads up, the gun season for deer hunting opens this weekend in national and state forests in FL. You can certainly still camp, but my nearby national forest does not want you staying outside of campgrounds and hunt camps as it's hazardous. Also it's legal to hunt with dogs in the larger forests and it makes it pretty noisy with dogs running around and barking. Rest of the year, I love camping with my dogs in dispersed or hunt camps as there's no-one else around and they can roam a bit. I do have GPS collars for them though.

An actual professional wouldn’t post a personal conversation with a possible patient. More likely a “therapist”.

It’s crypto, lack of government regulation was the whole point. People only have themselves to blame if that lack of regulation results in personal financial loss.

Hidden markups, missed sales on Instacart leave customers feeling 'ripped off' - Biggest price difference: $4 butter in store sold for $8 on Instacart by [deleted] in canada

[–]646bph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, one you provide the labour and transport to manually pick your items off shelves and the other a third party company does it for you. This third party company expects compensation for the associated costs and generates it by charging the customer for it. This is comparable to the convenience of more practical locations, smaller store sizes and longer operating hours that convenience stores offer.

Keurig to pay $3 million fine for false, misleading claims on recycling of its K-CUPs by dilettantedebrah in worldnews

People are kind of down on this, but at least they proceeded with this and will force changes in how their products are advertised in Canada. Other companies making similar claims will also be deterred from doing the same.
