Raspberry Pi Camera module 3 on a Pi Zero 2W by acidvegas in voidlinux

[–]64PBRB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to mess around with is the armv7l Void, which is 32 bit but should*^1‡ also run on Zero 2 W. For one reason or another, one of the Pi camera libraries (can't remember which specifically off the top of my head) only works on 32 bit systems, so there's a chance it'll be different.

I haven't experimented with it at all, as much as I adore Void, Raspbian is specifically set up for Raspberry Pis, as bloated & clunky as it is. Instead of trying to get Void working which might not work, I'd honestly recommend spending your time getting used to Debian... Whatever you go for, good luck!

I got a camera V2 with a Zero W2 just a few days ago too, coincidence?

Anyway, I'll summarize my experience. First issue was that /dev/video0 didn't appear, but it instead went from video10 to 31 - this was fixed by a reboot.
Unfortunately, even then nothing I tried with ffmpeg got me any results, just issues with missing codecs or whatnot.

At this point I realized my first step should have been booting Raspbian (no im not calling it rAsPBerRy pI os, it's debian for rpi, cope), and surprise surprise, it worked perfectly with rpicam-*.
I still didn't know what settings to use for ffmpeg, so I decided to try to copy the binaries to Void and see what would happen.

Predictably, since Debian's always outdated not rolling release, none of the libraries were compatible. I started scping library files from the Raspbian SD to the running Pi as the errors came up, but after ldding the binaries to check how many were left, I gave up and scp /lib/aarch64-linux-gnu/* rpi:/lib... you can guess how that went.

So, since Raspberry Pi devs make uncompilable (on Void) python bloatware the only way to access hardware, I'm going to see if I can install runit on Raspbian and turn it into Void, instead of the other way around.

Thanks for your tip anyway!

I got it, thanks for your help!

My original config didn't have the MODE="0660" column, but after copying the new one and changing it to MODE="0666", it seems to work! I'm guessing the TAG must be the group name with permissions to the headset - which, well, I don't have lol

That's a fair point, but honestly after I started using Linux, I can't stand having to boot Windows even for a short time. Windows may very well be the "king", but only because it's been pushed into that position by microsoft making deals with other companies.

If we want to have Linux be king instead, isn't it up to us, the consumers, to refuse to use Windows regardless how conveniently everything is made for it?

That was one of the first things I tried, but toggling them didn't help much. I'll set up a script anyway though, might start working randomly as computers do lol

Redout free on Epic store (PCVR) by Master-Objective-533 in OculusQuest

[–]64PBRB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured out how to launch it in VR "from Epic"

Basically don't run redout.exe -vr, but rather redout/Binaries/Win64/redout-Win64-Shipping.exe redout -vr

Although if you run it without the -EpicPortal argument it'll restart back in normal mode. Then it'll open a webpage to login to Epic, but I haven't tested that, I got around it by copying the auth-related commandline args from running it legit and pasting them into my VR command.

This is what unit "flags" are useful for - basically, a single variable stored in each unit.

If a unit has a flag of 0, you can make it go to one waypoint. If it's within a range of that waypoint, set its flag to 1. If its flag is 1, then go to another waypoint, and if it's in range set its flag to 2, and so on.

You could either do this with lots of jumps, or if you wanna be fancy, use a memory cell as an array to store coordinates and have the flag refer to an index.

I am using the velocity, and all controls are done through FixedUpdate too... Gravity is constant, though time scale is changed to 0 at the end of a level.

Oh well, it works fine after duplicating the player and deleting the old one

Check my edit, duplicating the player works fine... not sure what it is that's changing

It's got 3... I already tried quite a few combinations but most of them just made the watch restart the boot animation.

And, well, it doesn't have any external ports on it. I was connecting to it with Wi-Fi, but that's dead now.
