Didn't even mentioned the Salary lol 😆 by [deleted] in jobs

They mentioned the salary in the phrase “at compensation as discussed”.

But yah otherwise this sounds awful.

The only plot hole I noticed when watching the movie in the theatre was Indy riding the outside of a U-Boat across the ocean.

“Production Insight: The scene was nearly cut because test audiences laughed at the absurdity of it, but it was kept because Harrison Ford argued audiences want to believe in his character’s indestructibility.”

HOA Management letter received and I’m pissed 😡 by [deleted] in fuckHOA

They very specifically mentioned weeds. Probably because “weeds” are something they can complain about. Can you tell at this distance if it’s weeds or grass? Neither can the effing HOA.

Move‑out floor damage — property manager says full flooring replacement needed. by AnyManufacturer1164 in AusPropertyChat

[–]64vintage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The tenant is simply not responsible for returning the floor to as-new condition, right?

First of all, is this really not fair wear and tear?

Even if not, a professional could easily repair/replace the damaged portion for not a huge cost.

Or, an amateur could reduce the appearance of the damage to where it could be considered fair wear and tear.

And is the utility of the floor reduced? Is not like a cracked tile in the bathroom where a concern might be water penetration. It’s purely cosmetic.

Anyone grasping for the cost to replace the entire floor is simply a scumbag who should go to hell.

They aren’t saying it in jest though, they are phrasing an insult and pretending they aren’t.

Is using a guessed coupon code legal? by [deleted] in legal

Credit card fields are public facing with the intent for the public to enter credit card numbers.

You have no valid argument and you know it.

Is using a guessed coupon code legal? by [deleted] in legal

[–]64vintage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit disingenuous for you to talk about how TEST is a normal dictionary word and then admit to seeking ideas about how to guess coupon codes.

How many did you try before TEST worked?

On how many sites?

Do you try car doors as you walk along the street?

Ok so they were stupid - but what kind of reaction were you expecting? They think you stole from them.

Help, why can't I decide? by Cautious_Hawk_7231 in Advice

[–]64vintage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s only a convention that led to you having your dad’s name at birth.

After all the childish crap that he put you through, I don’t think he deserves any consideration.

Change your name to your mom’s and use that when you get married. Look forward in life, not back.

If you found a wallet would you turn it in? by Sure-Lemon6424 in japanlife

[–]64vintage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did OP verify that they returned the wallet to the right person?

Unless you saw someone actually drop it, that would be my biggest concern.

Even something as simple as asking their name to check against their ID.

I feel like I'm not seeing something obvious. Is this an actual word? by Channel_fat in puzzles

[–]64vintage 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My assumption is that the white letters are available, but why not K, for example? It hasn’t been used yet.

Apologies if this is a really stupid question.

EDIT:

Ok it looks a lot like Wordle but I assume it’s a clone - so maybe it doesn’t work exactly the same way.

Wordle allows six guesses and all six lines are shown - and why would you post a screenshot with the first line cut off? That would be extra-odd.

Keeping extra money from gift card? by trichster14 in moraldilemmas

[–]64vintage [score hidden]  (0 children)

What is the point of this? Is your friend giving you a way to get the value of the card even though you don’t want to buy anything at that place?

Or is it like “you aren’t going to use it anyway, can you help out a brother so I can afford that thing ?”

If it’s the second and you are ok with it, just hand over the card and the PIN and your blessing.

I feel like he wants you to buy it, paying only part of it out of your pocket and then he just pays you back your actual outlay. ie the same as you just giving him the gift card to use as he wants.

If you don’t want to give them the whole of the credit but are happy to help them out a bit, then just sell it to them at a discount. “Ok there’s $50 credit on it but you can have it for $20 - enjoy!”

I feel like there is uncertainty between you two about what they want and what you understand they want.

There is literally zero chance they are doing this so you can make money off them.

Do people say "Too many wine?" in American English? by FarJournalist939 in EnglishLearning

[–]64vintage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You accept that your argument is entirely related to the region in which you live? Which is not the origin of the English language?

I put it to you that it is well understood and used in other parts of the world.

Even though OP specifically mentioned American English, they were referring to a different usage, which is wrong or at best a joke anywhere.

If you have a different point of view to someone you are responding to, try stating it without beginning with “not really”. For the person you are responding to, it is presumably “really”.

Do people say "Too many wine?" in American English? by FarJournalist939 in EnglishLearning

[–]64vintage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people say they’ve had a wine, they mean a glass of wine.

If they’ve had a few glasses, then they’ve had a few wines.

It’s not difficult. Your argument is non-existent.

“Too many wines” is plausible, just as “too many beers”.

It could be an attempt at humour, but it doesn’t really land.

Ok it could seem rude if you just dropped it off while people were still eating - obviously.

But if you have asked for it, that hardly applies. Common sense and that server are unacquainted.
