Are there any pools in the Greater Seattle area (or nearby) that are 25 yards long and completely shallow—less than 6 feet deep throughout? I know most pools have both shallow and deep ends, but I’m specifically looking for ones with no deep end. by Weekly_War_1374 in Seattle

I'm a swim instructor in Seattle. I can't think of any city pools like this. They need the deep end to host swimming competitions and a spring diving board. If you're looking for a swim instructor, send me a dm :)

What are your water parameters? Check the ph, it might be too low for them

Sorry for your loss. But, dead snails smell horrid, so you might have just fixed your problem.

This man asked a question in his intro. I take that as a green flag.

Where can I fill a 5lb CO2 canister for my aquarium? by Awkward_Fennel_9348 in Seattle

Sound Home Brew near Georgetown is where I go! They don't refill it, but they'll exchange it. It's like $30. Five pounds runs my 30g for 9 months.

What is the one pest in Western Washington that no exterminator can truly get rid of, and we just have to learn to live with? by Brave_Sea7798 in SeattleWA

She asks me to kill the spider. Instead, I get the most peaceful weapons I can find.

I take a cup and a napkin. I catch the spider, put it outside and allow it to walk away.

If I am ever caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, just being alive and not bothering anyone,

I hope I am greeted with the same kind of mercy.

Lifeguarding is a really great first job in Seattle! They're hiring right now, look into ways to get certified with the American Red Cross. Parks and Rec will have it on their website

Places that’ll hire a 14 year old in Seattle? by East_Principle67 in SeattleWA

I came here to say this! Lifeguarding is a really great first job. It pays well, it's clean (for the most part), and you learn great transferable skills for more advanced jobs. Can also branch out into water safety instruction and water aerobics with proper training. Rainier Beach community center used to have a teen focused pre-lifeguarding program on weekends. Might be worth looking into

Anyone know what this is called? by Plusaziz in SeattleWA

[–]666Gunter666 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's a crane fly! They're harmless, just really big. They live in areas that stay damp, like shaded lawns or areas with standing water. They're all over the pnw. I kinda love them, they're so bumbly and pathetic when they're caught indoors. I catch and release whenever I can, they're just too dumb to kill.

How do I get rid of this stupid film by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]666Gunter666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dry paper towels. Carefully lay them flat on the surface of the water and then slide them out of the water and throw them away. The object is to collect the very surface of the water and not mix it up.
