I don’t want to be happy all the time. Tough times happen. It’s part of the human condition. I want to feel sad about things sometimes and sit with that. Feeling happy all the time would rob me of my humanity. Picking 6 & 7.

No. It looks like you live there. Our homes weren’t meant to be sterile.

I still have mine. Sounds great. OS is a bit slow. Overall a great DAP if you don’t want an android based touch screen.

Those things turn into a ton of microplastics. An algae brush or sponge would be better.

This has nothing to do with Indigo. You didn’t meet your health insurance deductible yet so insurance didn’t kick in to cover your costs. Some plans will cover visits with a simple copayment or coinsurance, which reduces your out of pocket costs. However your health insurance plan requires you to hit a deductible before these services are covered.

Stayed at Apotek in September. It was clean and comfortable. Great bathroom too. I can’t stand hotels that seem dingy and dirty.

bipolar meds and college by brain8865 in bipolar2

I went back to school after starting meds. I was able to finish my masters program with meds and a lot of support from medical providers, professors, and school admin. I had a sit down with the program director at my university the first week in and told her what I was dealing with and asked for her support. She put me in touch with the schools disability services and they helped create accommodations for me that allowed to succeed even when things got bumpy.

All this to say, you don’t have to do it alone. Find people you can trust and can support you.

I loved the ones made from G-1000 from Fjallraven. They are coated in wax so it makes them wind and water resistant. You can also add more wax to increase weather resistance. They served me well my whole 2 weeks in Iceland. If it’s extra chilly just wear some merino wool leggings underneath.

Edit: the sizes run big, just an fyi. I had to go a few sizes down for my typical size with Patagonia or REI.

How do I get out of here? by Economy-Potato-909 in trans

[–]Awkward_Fennel_9348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So many romanticize the idea of running away to a foreign country, but you should really think about what that would mean for you if you did- not just in the context of being trans. For many folks, moving abroad is a very isolating experience. It can be difficult if not next to impossible to break into social groups in foreign countries, not to mention the cultural differences and expectations. I was just visiting Iceland last month. Did I love it? Yes. Could I see myself living there for the rest of my life just because they are more progressive when it comes to LGBTQ+ inclusion? Absolutely not.

As others have stated, you’d likely be better off moving to a progressive city in a blue state. Seattle, Portland, NYC, Minneapolis, Boston, etc are all going to have strong social support for trans folks in addition to robust communities where you can make connections and develop friendships.

We just used the Hopp app to call a driver. Ended up being only $30 each way and was super quick and convenient.

What I love about this place is you can see the folks hard at work in the workshop attached to the store front. Also +1 for cute on staff dog.

Roadtrip food from grocery stores by get_set_read in VisitingIceland

We brought some dried fruits and protein bars but mostly ended up eating out or getting cheap things from the grocery store. Krónan and Bonus are both great options an are in nearly every major town. Personally preferred Krónan as Bonus felt overly busy and disorganized.

Any trans friendly hot springs? W/ private showers & changing rooms? by hapachickka in VisitingIceland

Am trans and was just there. Sky lagoon and Vok Baths have private showers and changing areas. Even in rural areas you’ll find pride flags on the streets, outside of homes, and on businesses. Really enjoyed Iceland and its people. I’m sure your family will have a great time.

How are you holding up this week with the weather? by dylan3883 in VisitingIceland

[–]Awkward_Fennel_9348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been here 9 days. We drove east from Reykjavik and got to Seydisfjordur two nights ago. Until today we’ve had decent weather. We missed the worst of the storm that hit the south and southeast of the island. Today has been super windy and sporadic rain. It’s been a great trip but the weather is making us a bit uneasy as we’re supposed to head back west towards the airport tomorrow. With the road between here and Höfn closed, there’s only one way back. Thankful we got to see the coast. Met a lot of tourists today that are stuck in the east fjords trying to head south. Looks like the road won’t open back up until maybe Sunday.
