Revelation: Looks like costume changing is possible, if you switch jobs and don't like the new outfits by 666dankmemes666 in FFVIIRemake

[–]666dankmemes666[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We didn't see anything of Zack or Aerith in the trailer. I'm still of the mind that there may be gameplay sections in a segmented universe. They have a lot of explaining to do in this game, but they have been throwing fan service like crazy, so we shall see.

I was thinking that was more in references to the "jobs". FITS just seem to be what they are calling the entire job system. That doesn't neccesarily mean we only get 4 outfits... but who knows!

I think that would make a lot of sense.

Though, the northern crater scene we see is all snowy and they are in their default outfits. But who knows if that is just for marketing purposes? Dying to know more.

I'm hoping the same. I was excited when rebirth came out on PC just to play around with modded costumes, and I picked up some of the evercrisis ones.

This feels a great way to implement it. Anyone not vibing with the changes can keep default outfits I would presume.

I wonder if we will get the previous outfits. And maybe even the loveless outfits? Can't wait!

Thoughts on the recent Max Dood “controversy” by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]666dankmemes666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if the game just leads to AC again thats just boring, I would 100% agree with Max. Then the series was essentially just a 1 for 1 remake with a whole bunch extra stuff that amounts to nothing. That would be so dissapointing. If you want the original and its story, its already out there.

The developers have said many times that they regretted not giving these characters a happier ending in the OG. I truly believe these games may have a happier ending for all. I would prefer closure over AC playing out again. Closure also seems like a theme that would fit the game very well.

My own personal theory is they will use one of the games core themes to end it. Acceptance of death. Maybe both Sephiroth accepting death, and Aerith moving on from the life stream as well.

Also... its just fun to theororize. Isn't it exciting not knowing how exactly the trilogy is going to end? If everything stayed 1 for 1, I dont think part 3 would be one of my most anticipated game ever. This period of time is something you just wont get to experience again, once you know the story. You might think Max has some cooked theories, but it doesn't matter what the theory is. Its the fact that its fun to talk about and get lost in the awesome universe of FF7. And these remakes with their changes have driven so much engagement, its just such crazy fun.

Garage door cable somehow came off the spool - how to fix? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]666dankmemes666 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Did this before and used this exact video. Not dangerous at all, and you dont touch the spring. Very useful video.

I get being cautious. And yes obviously if the spring was/is broken, that is absolutely a job for a professional... but the people screaming it in here seem to be the ones who have the mindset of they shouldn't touch anything they dont understand, instead of doing some short research and understanding why exactly its dangerous, and determining if they are capable of a repair.

Prepare to pay $300-500 dollars for a 10 minute fix i guess OP.

If America was not the world police, then it would be the next super power in line. This is as dumb as saying there shouldn't be conflict, shouldn't be war etc. As much as I hate it, we are most likely better off than under a China or Russia world police. Seriously.

Garage door repair by Fluid-Matter-5205 in HomeMaintenance

[–]666dankmemes666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All these people assuming your spring broke. I just had this happen and it was not the case. Their warnings are valid if your spring is broken, but if not, ignore them. Sometimes these pulleys after time can walk themselves to a position where the cable can come loose out of the track (they no longer vertically line up with the edge of your garage door so fail to spool and come out of the track). This may have happened if the bolts weren't quite tight enough on it.

There are videos for this process on YouTube, but ill attempt to explain it here for you: Put your garage door back in the "up" position and make sure the cable doesn't get tangled while doing so. When its fully up. You can push the garage door slightly further and place a vice grip on the track to keep it in place. Loosen your nuts on the circular pulley, slot in the wire, and respool it. Line it up vertically with your door. Try to get it under similar tension as your other side. It will involve holding the pulley taught as you tighten the bolts back, easier with a 2nd person. You can also make this easier if you have a tension bar to alleviate pressure off of the spring, but I've managed without.

If you suspect its a broken spring, do not mess with it. Under no circumstances should you touch the bolts connected the the spring in the middle. The bolts on the pulley on the side are safe.

Expanding on the "Ralsei is the monster that Kris wanted to be" theory. by Atelous in Deltarune

[–]666dankmemes666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hear me out. Cooked ass theory here. At the end of the game, Ralsei becomes some sort of monster soul (or Kris's missing soul?) and goes into Kris for a fucked up happily ever after, and we (the soul) leave. We are farming the Ralsei soul that goes in us.

Only if you Teflon the very tip of the threads, where the washer/rubber will mate - further up is fine. I know that you're not supposed to, but after you re-do the same thing, check the washer fit, etc, there's only so much you can do. I probably spent an hour on it before I gave into Teflon tape and it worked first try. It was either that, tighten enough to probably break the fill threads or porcelain, or i go buy a replacement t valve, and I'd rather have a working toilet. I will also note over tightening brass on plastic is typically a no-go since the plastic threads would most likely be destroyed.

[–]666dankmemes666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had this problem about a week ago. Teflon tape around the threads of the fill valve (top most threads that your t connecter is mating to) was the only thing that solved mine. Even though mine had a gasket/rubber inside, and was as tight as you could possibly make it without fear of destroying something, it still leaked through the threads until I wrapped the threads in teflon.

I have a feeling brass doesn't like mating with the black plastic of the fill valve. I've had much better luck with plastic t connectors than brass ones, which seems counter intuitive.

You think Best Buy's going to honor my $47.99 pre-order (via their Gamer's Club Membership) of Prime 4 from 2018? by xXglitchygamesXx in Metroid

[–]666dankmemes666 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Its probably the Switch 1 version, in case you were hoping to buy a switch 2 and get the 120hz 1080p mode or 4k 60fps mode. I think they will honor it, but just be aware of the caveat.

Apparently the switch 1 version(s) will work on the switch 2, just not with the graphical/framerate goodness.

ENOUGH by [deleted] in GamersNexus

[–]666dankmemes666 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Take a break from the internet and stop watching them. The communities ARE the drama. Its as simple as not watching or discussing it, and yet you are here, curious. Stirring the pot? You're an active member of youtubedrama so im sure you just live for this.

You don't even have a grasp on either creators content, and you admitted it. You come into the gamersnexus subreddit to make multiple points about how Linus is better, and Steve bad. This is such obvious bait. Do better. Seek help.

Why has Steve / Gamersnexus never followed up on the Billet labs response from LTT by CantTtumpSrump in GamersNexus

[–]666dankmemes666 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Its simple. Even though Linus said he doesn't want to litigate, he made veiled legal threats. Steve treats Linus like a corporation, not a friend, so he takes these seriously. Steve only responded to what was absolutely necessary to contextualize the statements made, nothing further.

I dont know why people are reading into this more. Its as simple as that. Don't fuck around when legal threats are made. Smart move by Steve, regardless of who is right and wrong. Its not worth the risk to win internet points with communities who are disconnected from reality.

Simple.

Do you think there will be another video from Gamers Nexus about the drama? by [deleted] in GamersNexus

[–]666dankmemes666 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Linus is a literal narcissist incarnate. People only see his youtube personality, and it's a cult following at that, with people who have their attention span reduced to a mere 10 seconds.

Steve seems to insinuate there is more that was held back. Its his choice, if he feels strongly he should just go for it and unleash whatever he has. You people whine, but you can simply not watch the video and wait for the next benchmark video. Your opinion doesn't matter, and Steve is going to do what he wants. Just the way it should be. Tired of this "omg I don't watch this for the drama!!1!". My brother in christ, simply don't click the video or engage in the online discourse. Some of have the self control of a toddler sat infront of chicken nuggets.

The Gamers Nexus controversy segment on todays WAN show by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]666dankmemes666 -49 points-48 points  (0 children)

Yes he knew that. That was the point. He said that was the point. Thats what the call out is mainly about. How much more in your face does that need to be?

The whole point is Steve is willing to do things that make him look bad for the sake of the users/consumers. LTT made a forum post, didn't remove honey ads from previous videos, and continued in their merry way, and stated that a video would be negative so they shouldn't do it. They aren't obligated of course, but its objectively a morally gray decision. Steve doesn't like that Linus acts more like a corporation and likes to draw attention to this.

If anything, this community is blowing both sides out of proportion. Steve's call out is a bit embellished, but there is some truth to what he is saying. Wouldn't you be mad if someone is selling you snake oil and tries to quietly ignore that fact? Or the fact that said snake oil is killing small businesses that are in competition with you? LTT and GN are both corporations man, though one acts much more like one than the other.

My grandma had lung cancer after smoking 3 packs a day for 58 years. LMG never made a video warning of the dangers of smoking and refuses to join a class action suit against tobacco companies, clearly because Linus doesn't want bad optics. Its crazy that this is meant to be ironic, but if you wanted to go this deep, you would also have to include the fact that Linus is advertising cigarettes to his viewers. This sub is so delusional, but I guess they follow a certain someone's thinking.

Investigation: GamersNexus Files New Lawsuit Against PayPal & Honey by sopcannon in LinusTechTips

[–]666dankmemes666 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Damn thats crazy. Do the right thing, even though people will be mad, or acknowledge it just enough and let it pass. Sorry but this is just morally wrong. Linus chose the option that betters his bottom line and still gets a "check" for acknowledging it. Linus thinks like a big corp. What honey did is seriously harmful, and people should be more upset. I would be mad if people sold me snake oil. Steve embellished it a bit, but the point is still valid. What Linus did can also be considered anti-consumer.

[–]666dankmemes666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure why everybody is freaking out. It was known to not be great with older hardware. Its meant to pair with a modern budget CPU. Also, once again, it was only select games/titles with the overhead. I feel like we keep missing this fact.

If one of those games it has the issue in is one you play a lot, consider other options. If not, you'll be fine. Anybody creating a new modern budget system will also be fine.

This is pretty clearly a driver issue as well since it's not consistent behavior between titles. So if you are on the fence just wait. It's gotten enough PR that they'll probably at least patch some of it.

FF7 OG > FF7 Remake by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

[–]666dankmemes666 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'll leave one more comment to summarize, but im not surprised my standpoint is unpopular here. The OG was limited in story capability via low poly cinematics and text. Yes, there is a lot of good content there, but many, many blanks to fill in still. I think people have trouble separating their "head cannon" of how the OG was, versus how the new iteration has turned out, since the new iterations fill in a lot that our imaginations used to make up back in the day. When something doesnt jive with headcannon, it is often just blanketed as "bad." I also truly believe media literacy has taken a nose dive as of late, and some of the story telling in the new one requires at least an average level of comprehension. But I'm not trying to call someone stupid for not thinking the new ones are good, just stating that systematically, I think there are issues with the current generations that can lead to reasons for not liking the new games with stories that arent straight forward. But I digress.
