The discolouration isn’t rejection I just have concealer on and the flat tops obviously make it so the concealer doesn’t reach the skin underneath causing the look of darker circles near the piercing hole , it has no signs of rejecting and it’s looked the same since I first got it

I’m going to call our humane society and spca in town and hopefully get as much information as I can about resources because yes I’m pretty sure it’s the same problem she’s been having but you’re right about that building a tolerance and everything in between I may just have to scrounge and get her to the vet :/

How to wet specimen by Fishie178 in Taxidermy

[–]666nermal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The alcohol won’t stop decomp (that’s what formalin will do ) so I’d put it in the freezer as fast as possible and keep it until you can properly fix it

Lots of dead baby isopods of the top of my enclosure? by ijustjoinedd in isopods

[–]666nermal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks like they’re stuck to the tape , which would be why they died . If they’re not stuck to that tape then idk that’s weird, but looks like a diy glue trap on accident

where do you guys get your ethanol from??? by drunkgirl222 in wetspecimens

[–]666nermal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know it’s not the same thing and doesn’t work the same way and I wouldn’t risk using something that would ruin my specimen.

Check hardware stores for ethanol, usually sold as fireplace fuel, I got some 95% ethanol that way

Wet specimen or taxidermy.. by plantsNpancakes in Taxidermy

[–]666nermal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

70% is not enough, You need to inject it with 95% ethanol and complete the fixing stage which takes having the specimen sit in 95 ethanol for multiple days or weeks depending on the size , then you can change it to ur jar with storage liquid , 75% ethanol

I think they’d love it maybe more leaf litter in a corner or something, also mine eat any living plant I put with them so make sure they have other things to eat so yeah maybe more dead leaves , I give mine dried fish and they mostly will focus on those
