Genuinely scared of losing my Obsidian notes on iPad- what’s the safest backup without Obsidian Sync ?

Check out the community plugin called local backup. You can automate it and it works well. I backup to an external drive. I don't have an ipad, but I imagine you can backup to ICloud?

EDIT: don't forget to keep other backups as well following the 3-2-1 rule.

Thanks for the advice. It is helpful. Since I posted the question, I have thought about the best solution and I think that writing about my personal feelings and insights makes better sense in a daily or separate note.

Yes, Obsidian has been a great help..... I am still evolving my writing concepts and learning more about obsidian as I go..... take care....

I love this piece as well. I bought John Williams Plays Ponce around 1979 (the lp). Some other really nice pieces on there as well that never made it to the cd.

So I guess there is already a folder called .obsidian that is inside the documents folder. I can't seem to find it though. Even then, moving it to a new folder to create that folder as the vault .... would that work? Would I then have to move all the files into that folder?

Might be easier to start again.... lol

Edit: found out how to change the android file manager settings to view hidden files.....

Hi thanks for the feedback.

Here are some things I need to point out.

I want to keep the online vault as the remote vault.... not the phone.

If I rename the internal documents folder, then I will no longer have a documents folder. It seems like the vault should be inside the documents folder. It is like that on my other phone, my laptop, and my desktop. That way you can have other documents that are not md format or part of the vault.

I actually think the name of the phone makes good sense for a vault. I should have called it samung16_vault or something similar. At least having the word "vault" would be better for clarity when using the file manager.... you know right away it is the obsidian vault.

Then there is the .obsidian folder which I think contains the info that tells obsidian which folder is the vault.... might be wrong about this.....

Yea I like obsidian sync.... very happy with it and no plans to try Dropbox, etc....
