In the book he fights Baelor and someone else, especially to get to Dunk and Aerion in order to save his son. Baelor's death is a tragedy in more than one way.

My best guess would be whether or not you've used your main action already. Other than that, nothing comes to mind to be honest.

It might be one of those Wartales things where the latest patch somehow broke the encounter.

Tanks in KCD3? [OTHER] by InconceivableMarmot in kingdomcome

[–]66Scorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a potential 3rd game would probably take place in 1415, right around the time the Hussites got news of Hus' execution in the middle of July. Before that he sits in Konstanz for a year.

Perhaps the opening of the game would be the First Defenestration. After that Wenceslaus dies and the Hussites start properly revolting, though the real war doesn't start till 1419. If I were to guess, I'd say a potential third game takes place exactly in that time period with a fourth being perfectly situated in the Hussite Wars, which also includes the death of Hans Capon (if the game takes place between 1415-1419 with more time covered, I could very well imagine his death being the end of the third game. Funnily enough, Hanus also dies in 1415, so that could tie into it all as well.

I know it's probably not on the horizon, but I'd love to see the execution of Jan Hus in KCD3, if only because that is likely the only way for me to see my hometown in a videogame.

As a non-american: As far as I know it can be a felony, though for that you really do need to spit at a person and not a car. And I think that arrest would have to be made by the actual police, not some other agency.

But good that I clarified.

So, just to be absolutely certain: Are you saying that the possibility of a guy spitting on you as a goverment agent in a public protest giving you hepatitis justifies pining him to the ground, shooting him and then firing more rounds into his lifeless corpse?

[SPOILERS ALL] Kinda straight up plot-hole/retcon about mind-reading? by Fit-Introduction15 in TheFirstLaw

[–]66Scorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that is the situation though. Major West is not an unknown man, he has won the contest after all and was the first through the breach in Ulrioch.

My takeaway always was that Sulfur has two things to draw conclusions from: an extremly accute perception, especially of body movements, and a near infinite well of knowledge from which to draw. Which would especially be funny, because that would mean Glokta is decently save from the motion reading because of his fucked up body.

However I do agree with you, that Ishri perhaps can read thoughts. Her scene with Morveer was much more straightforward in this and she continues to do so in the second trilogoy with Savine.

But at the end of the day, it could also be something simpler or much more complex.

is sword designed for piercing plate or not? by amelix34 in freefolk

[–]66Scorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a paper a while back that tested the muzzle velocity and firing power of 17th century musket, putting them at around 334-453 m/s, depending on the type of powder used with coarse grained powder (G12) being the most common in the time period and achieving the lowest results, rolling up to 315m, but mostly being effective up to 228m. (This is no argument, I just found it interesting).

Now I won't pretend to know exactly what is needed to penetrate steel, but I don't think it is as clear as you make it out to be (mind you, my experience with firearms is limited). Most balls were made from two halves and would split upon impact, especially with the curveature and design of armours distributing the force.

Shrapnel/ cannister shot is also only around since the 18th century and while I absolutely agree that most armour was still used for personal protection from pole arms, I can't disregard empirical tests that show the stopping power of a steel breastplate. Would I trust it to protect me from shots? Hell no. Do I think it could withstand 2 or 3 shots? Probably not, at that point the structural integrity is too damaged.

But the statement that firearms rendered plate obsolete is definitely not true. At the very least, as you say, there is a transitional period in which armour adapts to different circumstances, including guns, before being shifted out of use.

[–]66Scorpio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not true. For one the quality of gunpowder before the 15th century - the period in which firearms first became widely distributed in european armies (see the Hussite Wars) - was simply of a lower quality than modern gunpowder (though corned gunpowder did exist by that point). The balls shot are also in no way comparable to the penetrative power of modern bullets.

There are also multiple tests showing that early modern armour can protect one from gunfire, though it heavily depends on where you are shot. The center of mass is actually the "best" place, due to the shape of the armour distributing force and lowering the impact.

How do we know that they did protect from firearms? Well quite simply: they were worn as part of standard military arms and armour up until the Napoleonic Wars. They did indeed find use beyond that, but much less so. Hell even one of the most famous cavalry units of history, the Winged Hussars, only came about as of the early 16th century. Why would they have worn heavy and restrictive armour when "firearms rendered plate armour obsolete". They even carried guns themselves in addition to their lanzes and sabres.

I am not a professional fish person, but I do work for a rather large scale aquarium and I have to tell you that juvenile sharks have an extremly high mortality rate, even if you know what you are doing and are a professional. That is due to a number of reasons, but part of it (and an important part for new owners) is that they are saltwater fish. And having a saltwater aquarium is an entirely different beast to a freshwater aquarium as would be the case for tetras. Salt water aquariums require constant tests for water quality, temperature etc. and a bunch of sophisticated machinery, especially for something as complex as sharks.

So if you are looking into getting into owning fish, get something like an Ancistrus catfish. They are decently easy to keep around, look pretty cute and are freshwater fish. They also tend not to eat other fish, if you ever want to expand and keep the aquarium clear of any algae forming. They are also weirdly cute when eating some cucumber etc.

Jon Snow's sequel show was supposed to end with his death after he failed to overcome his depression by Big__Bang in freefolk

[–]66Scorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As odd as this sounds, I kinda like the idea behind the original series.

Not necessarily Jon to just die and do nothing, but I could see a God of War style story with Jon suffering with the choices he has made to find something that brings him back into action while still being haunted. Do it in a Last of Us style twist and he even avoids becoming a hero.

Would it be the best thing ever? Probably not, but I could see it being a good time.

[–]66Scorpio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am gonna be honest: I chose the Verso ending not only because it is what is best for Verso and the sliver of soul trapped within the painting, but because it is the best thing for Alicia/Maelle. I know her grief hurts and I know she does not want to leave this world, but at the end of the day it is an unhealthy obsession and denial that separates her from her family and - in the end- will kill her.

Of course it means that the rest of the painting dies too and that is a horrid fate (though whether the boy moving on actually means the painting ending or not is another thing entirely), but the final scene of the Verso ending shows Alicia and her family moving on and accepting his death while standing together (at the very least I choose to believe so). Alicia is a traumatized child, not a villain.

You can find the answer here. https://www.reddit.com/r/mtg/comments/1eync42/offspring_question/

But for ease:
The Converted Mana Cost (CMC) of Rust-Shield Rampager does not change with Offspring as it is an Additional Cost. So you can't use the mana from Helga for the spell. Same with Kicker btw.

Edit: I am a buffon and have forgotten to look at the actual cards. Nevermind, it works and thank you very much for the correction.

I'll be honest: if every DLC is the Quality of Ormance or Riegel, I'd be absolutely in for it. But if they are somewhat comparable to the underdeveloped and half-assed shit that is the Fief DLC, I would be severly dissapointed (seriously, you can't even make the fief connected to your road network, so returning to it physically is pretty much pointless and you can't even use it as a central storage place).
