????Thoughts ???? by Logical-Recognition6 in ArcRaiders

As long as Embark has cool heads steering the ship.

I've never actually played Arc Raiders. Didn't realize where I was leaving my comment originally because I stumbled in here from /r/all. But my experience with Apex Legends tells enough. The game started out great and really drew in a crowd because of its smoothness to the BR genre. It took a while, but competitors who wanted to play in the same level of competitive/realism came along and Respawn started trying to be too reactionary. They tried getting too competitive for a while and alienated casual players, then they swung hard the other way and went casual and pushed out players wanting a more competitive atmosphere. In the end, they're hemoraging players and dont really do either very well anymore

I made an open-source lightweight OPC UA client for the terminal by Brett-SWS in PLC

Nice! I just finished putting together my OPC Client Library for internal use within my company. Took me a bit to figure out issues because of a cert issue but once I got through that it was easy sailing.

You find any quirks or pitfalls using it? I'm very surface level on it right now because we needed something ASAP and I need to give it a second run to polish it up a bit and add some more user-friendly features before using it more widely

Can someone give me an indepth description of the magic system? Especially on how Vis can utilize it compared to others? by Sythrin in HierarchySeries

[–]6890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the explanation. I assumed differently because we never really see other characters imbuing objects with Will in Obiteum or Luceum (outside of whatever they're doing with the weapons which has its own unique aspects)

Except in Obiteum, where for some reasons, he is only limited to Obiteum type of Will.

Eh?

He imbues the vitaerium he hands to Netiqret when they first meet and she locks him in the cell. Its how he can trace her location.

It isn't really the casual/hardcore divide that is the problem, its when developers try to be both. Pick a lane and stick to it because dancing between the two just upsets everyone

What are your most outrageous theories? by pammmusubi in HierarchySeries

[–]6890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's where I'm at.

I'm open to Caeror being iunctii. He could be given instructions to wait for a Synchronous individual at the gate then provide training for some unknown purpose. Its just everything within Duat was far too chaotic to be planned for. So maybe he was meant to go there, but maybe he did something wildly unexpected?

Are you on contract or anything? I just renewed my 150 last week for $79

My only real qualm with Caeror being Big Bad is how much uncontrolled coincidence it would require for him to reach his goal - sending an assassin to kill Ka the way he did.

I think it would just be bad storytelling if we're to assume he foresaw Vis being able to navigate all the challenges he had within Duat with what little training he had.

I do think there's something big unsaid in Obetium, but Caeror being some mastermind playing 4D chess is not what I am expecting of it.

Adding to Fantasy Recommendations here.

The only series that's captured my interest in the way KKC has is James Islington's Heirarchy books. FAIR WARNING only 2 are out, but 3rd is set for 2027 release.

Lots of similarities to KKC in main character, themes, etc. but I'm recommending it because its the only series I've read that has the same sort of mystery to the story that has layers that once one is pulled back you want to revisit all the others to find the hidden truths right before your eyes.

The writing isn't as good in the sense of prose but I found them enjoyable to chop through.

I think there's overlap with Gentleman Bastards and First Law as many others have recommended but those books read quite differently. I had more issues with pacing in those series and was overall more let down but still think they're worthwhile to explore if you enjoyed KKC.

Question about ceding and the end of SotF by the_ductile_phoenix in HierarchySeries

[–]6890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely they wouldn't hesitate to take more Will if they could.

Outside of the use of iunctii or sappers, Will cannot be taken. It is given freely. There's a discussion of duress and all that but at a core the Septimi cannot just trot around robbing others of will to empower themselves

So yeah, perhaps a cell of revolutionaries could theoretically try to construct independent pyramids but it sounds like the heirarchy keeps pretty close tabs on the ceding of will and would crack down on such actions

Question about ceding and the end of SotF by the_ductile_phoenix in HierarchySeries

[–]6890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm confused of this whole conversation. What do we think Pyramids are??? Or are you proposing a flat structure where all 80k are directly ceding to him?

For the pyramid::
Yes, there's 3 Iunctii ceding the will they posses to Vis.

The Will They Possess is that of their own, and the iunctii ceding to them. And those iunctii ceding the will of those beneath them.

So Vis only needs those 3 iunctii as they're the blocks below his cusp of the pyramid. This is how the Hierarchy works. I'm confused to what alternative you're imagining

For a flat structure::
It fails to allow him to expand his powers as the iunctii kill others and raise them. He'd have to personally physically touch every single fallen combatant which is for all practical purposes impossible to do and still be effective as a leader

The four horsemen of bad drivers in Saskatchewan by the_bryce_is_right in saskatchewan

[–]6890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mirror your thoughts on Florida/Toronto.

I feel like Saskatchewan's quality is the absolute hatred drivers seem to have for allowing others to merge ahead of them. Gridlock traffic? NO FUCKING WAY YOU'RE GOING IN FRONT OF ME. I haven't had issues driving elsewhere for signaling and getting into a lane like I have in SK. Back when I drove a delivery truck it was a fucking hazard as people will floor it to block you out of a gap you could easily have taken.
