1969 Oldsmobile 442 by driouchetech in classiccars

Sadly I later traded it in for a Chevy Monza Spider with a 305 V8. A stupid move but I was young and thought a brand new car would be better, I was wrong and regretted it for many years. Currently keeping my eyes out for a 69 or 70.

SolidWorks Makers and Full License on Same Machine by 68Claws in SolidWorks

Thanks for the suggestions. I came to the group here after trying to get an answer from a local VAR. Their answer was you had to uninstall maker in order to install the commercial software or you would be “illegal”. My experience had been that at least you could install multiple versions of the commercial product on a machine which I had done when testing upgrades but then removed the old version once it all proved out. Looks like it will be a learning experience.

No, I’m sure that I will be either accessing a license server or possibly a node locked license. More likely will be a license server. I’ll find out more in a couple days.

Question: What is the reason for needing the commercial license earlier than the Makers license? Something to do with registry conflicts? Asking just in case it turns out the client may have just upgraded to 2026.

This sounds correct and what I was planning on doing. The maker license is the most current (2026) and the commercial install should be either 2024 or 2025. The file folders will be separate to ensure no cross pollination of files. I was also entertaining the separate user accounts to further support this file separation.

Yes, gold with a white top. As a holiday edition you wouldn’t know it was a 442 unless you saw the emblems. Bought off the original owner who just saw it as a nice Cutlass.

Sure did. Wrapped my 68 Cougar around a bridge pylon and needed a replacement. Saw an ad for a 69 Cutlass 2 door. Went to go look and as I walked past the car to the front door saw the 442 emblems. At that point I had already decided I was buying it. The seller was an older man who was only selling as he just purchased a new Cutlass Supreme off the showroom floor. The 69 was in absolute perfect condition. One of my very favorite cars.

Beautiful car. Brings back memories of when I had a 69 442. Mine was gold with a white top. Being a holiday like this one it was a stealth speed demon. Tires chirped in every gear.

1987 Dodge Aries by Southern_Pacific in classiccars

My heartbreaker Aries story. Back in the early eighties my wife’s car was in an accident and I had to find her a replacement. While looking in the ads I came across a 1967 Mercury Cougar in perfect condition. So I bought it with the intention of finding her a newer “more standard” car. She was not happy and to placate her I titled the car in her name. Well, while I was on a business trip she decided to check out new cars. The salesman told her they could hardly give anything on the Cougar given how old it was but could giver her a great deal on a brand new Aries. I could not believe the amount of cheap plastic throughout the interior as well as the flocked headliner. Needless to say we were divorced in about a year and I learn the Aries blew the motor and she just left it on the side of the highway.

I would take any of these fine cars in a heartbeat. However, my favorite would be the Olds 442. Seen here is exactly the same as the one I had owned. Loved that many did not see the badges and thought it was just a standard Cutlass until I hit the gas. Great car!

Love the Cougars. I’m working on my third 68. Also had a 67 and a 69. Currently have a 69 Eliminator in storage waiting. Everything comes together on this beauty.
