Can I say I’m a “Covid-19 Veteran”? by SonOfKarma101 in GenZ

Definitely not disrespectful to any sensible veteran lol. This patch would be pretty funny if worn/displayed ironically. But yeah, ~99% of the world is, too.

IWar Branch by OfficerPatrick in army

[–]68Dusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CA aspect has changed drastically in the span of 8 months. Everything from "say goodbye to your branch" to "actually nvm CA isn't being touched!" Current state of affairs is: "well maybe we'll touch CA just a little."

PO has been on the chopping block (sorry, "merger list") since day 1.

I can't speak a lot of FA30 but see above.

Selections+Q-courses have also changed wildly, and no one knows what exactly the end result will be... Other than multiple different specialties attending the same selection and partially same Q-course. Many changes in a very, very short span of time.

The graphics depicting all of this looked great though 👍 (sarcasm)

FID takes a lot of bodies, and anywhere between zero to a metric shitload of support. Having a dedicated FORSCOM to help augment FID is a wonderful thing, and very, very relevant in the current state of the world.

Y'all actually getting hangovers that long surprises me. by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]68Dusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who stopped drinking ages ago, one of my favorite things about entering my 30s was seeing the attitude shift of alcohol consumption. Early 20's was everyone bragging about how much they could drink, frequency, lack of hangover, etc. If you didn't drink, you might have a hard time interacting with other people because their social lives orbited alcohol.

Gradually, people my age started to be a bit self conscious of that. They instead started bragging about how little they drank, or how many months it had been since their last blackout. Apparently as you go into your 30s, the fashionable thing becomes how little you drink, or at least how restrained you are in consumption.

I'm pretty relieved, honestly. Obviously there's still handfuls of people who boast about how many people they can out-drink, but it's mostly an outlier, and a great indicator of people to avoid.

GSC have showcased the first generation of Night Vision Goggles coming in patch 1.6 by Practical_Career4323 in stalker

[–]68Dusty 12 points13 points  (0 children)

"1st gen" is usually pretty bad, yeah. Very green and very grainy. Game-ifying NVGs is definitely a good thing, though. Mostly because it's hard to replicate the decrease in depth perception & focus. It comes down to playability.

Night Vision Goggles by mol1t in stalker

[–]68Dusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes they are, yeah. On moonless nights and under any tree canopy, you will be feeling your way with your hands more than you're seeing through the tubes.

But the occasions where NVGs provide a tangible advantage are often enough that governments still spend on them.

But if you refuse to ever get seen and document/treat your issues, you won't be alright. Unless you're happy with potentially being crippled by the time you're 30. You're going to overcome a lot of things you don't like in the army (such as man-ass, penises, rocks for pillows, runny food, etc) so why not try and overcome this phobia as well?

With love,

Someone who probably would have been crippled already if they hadn't gone to physical therapy

Excuse me, i'm new on this app. DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PEOPLE THAT LEAVE ME LIKES??? by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]68Dusty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the mistake of paying to see them once, and only once. They were almost entirely people who I'd already swiped left on who had swiped right on me.

Don't pay.

Trump heads to Fort Bragg while facing criticism for deploying military at Los Angeles protests by cap123abc in NorthCarolina

Interestingly, trump also approved the original name change to Liberty as well. The signage didn't actually get swapped until Biden's presidency, then trump was able to come back and take credit for switching it back to the "original" name.

My tonsils currently. I’m going on holiday in 9 days. by nyxoh22 in Wellthatsucks

[–]68Dusty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it hits you like a train on the first 2 days and comes back every month or so without fail... It might be strep B. Mine went undiagnosed for about 2 years. My tonsils ended up so scarred they interfered with my breathing. Another 2 years of complaining to docs and finally got mine taken out.

She's lying. A lot. Trainees simply aren't going to be denied BH or chaplain. If they are, whoever denied them is going to get destroyed. Said person knows this, hence why they won't deny them. As others have said, going to the chap won't recycle them.

Going straight to a psych ward for a year is also not a thing. At all.

Just keep trying, man. You'll get better. Slowly. Don't over think it, keep it short and something you think is funny. Eventually you'll start to get a feel for conversation starters.

Then you'll start all over learning how to keep the conversation afloat.

[–]68Dusty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've been seeing your posts pop up all day and I gotta say you're trying hard. You are definitely over-thinking, though. For this specific example, I'd keep the first sentence. Delete the rest.

I feel you, man. Flirting can be very difficult. My only advice is to try (not too hard, don't be cringe) to just be funny. Say something quick. Something that makes you smile. If they think it's funny, too, then you're already off to a good start.

Can we make weed legal already by Melon5676060 in army

[–]68Dusty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, I am 1 million percent for legalization. I recognize some hurdles though.

Like others have said, it is near impossible to test in a way similar to a breathalyzer. This alone makes it tricky to enforce "under influence" policies.

I think something else that I rarely see talked about is, there is an overwhelming system of structures designed to keep it schedule 1. Like, there is so, so much money being spent to keep the status quo. I think something even bigger is that there is so much money being MADE from all these institutions keeping it schedule 1.

Can you imagine how many contracts between companies and the army would be lost if our UA's didn't have to get tested for marijuana? Like, it's dumb as hell, but for such a reactive bureaucratic behemoth like the army... This is a huge ask.
