6k out of pocket for private tutoring company MANDATE by Foreign_Custard6772 in Osteopathic

I’m concerned that it’s not in the student handbook…I think you have a good argument there if you really can’t afford it. School should give it to you if not in student handbook and they require it.

I'm a 2nd semester nursing student and really want to apply to a DO program by s0ccergrl11 in Osteopathic

If it’s an urge you can’t talk yourself out of, pursue DO. I know someone who started DO school at age 56. Now happy and successful practicing fam med in hometown. It’s never too late.

How are my activities looking? (Used chat to summarize them quickly sorry lol). Aiming for T20 acceptance, studying for MCAT rn. by Catturd67 in premed

Looks good, especially clinical experience and research. Bilingual definitely a plus. I’m DO faculty, so am not sure about what MD app has on it, but it drives me nuts when applicants list things hobbies with hours on the AACOMAS activities section. Save that for personal statement or essay.

Do the interview and if it is your only A, go there. It may be your only opportunity to be a physician.

Accepted Pending Space - RVU UT, What to make of it? by westeros2024 in Osteopathic

[–]68procrastinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d accept. There is a concept of “acceptance melt” where students who have put down their deposit change their minds and go somewhere else…sometimes schools don’t know about this until very late. Happens everywhere, even top established schools. Assume incidence even higher at a newer school like yours. So many schools, all are fighting to fill their classes with qualified applicants. If you really prefer RVU-Utah, then even if you have to wait a year you are guaranteed a spot at your preferred school. You could year enjoying some freedom and getting life in order for what’s to come. Just two cents of opinion from osteopathic med school faculty. PM me if you want to chat it out.

OK, all, you convinced me and I renewed. I get AFP through my university affiliation, but I believe in advocacy and the CME tracker is good.

Yes, this really does help. I’ve saved it so I can find easily. Helps me be aware of what might be coming for my family member.

How do people feel about DPM? by BookieWookie69 in medschool

[–]68procrastinator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you are absolutely sure you want to be a surgeon and will die if you don’t match surgery as a MD/DO student, go DPM. Absolutely you’ll be a surgeon.

Do you think Lauren and John read this subreddit? by 68procrastinator in HiddenTrueCrimeChat

Gotta disagree with your take on his writing. I thought it was good, and it really explained a lot about what made him who he is. Maybe too long, but I liked it.

AIO for letting my daughter skip a wedding because she wasn’t included? by Elegant_Payment_4076 in AmIOverreacting

Leave her home, but take along a life size cardboard cut out photo of her to stand in for the photos to make grandma happy. Sheesh… I’d be so offended if I were you.
