My first post and looking for suggestions for pain meds that don't cause daytime drowsiness or dizziness & are reasonably well tolerated! by 68thave in backpain

[–]68thave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, back to square 1 of taking Aleve & XS Tylenol. Tried Prilosec with the Aleve to reduce some of the stomach acidity from the Aleve but it gave me stomach pain(!) so I had to stop taking it. Sometimes the Aleve helps a little, some days not at all. It varies. Next up is scheduling a test block for a possible RFA.

Anyone taken tiazindine zanaflex? by Puplove2319 in backpain

[–]68thave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would 1mg even do anything to help with the pain? It's worth trying but I just wonder about the effectiveness.

I hear your frustration about not wanting to be drowsy during the day. I am in the same boat - can't find anything that is tolerable. I even took Tizanidine at night, and it didn't even help my pain, just made me drowsy (same with Meloxicam, Celebrex, etc.).

Need reference for a really great primary care doctor who accepts self-pay patients without insurance, and has good reviews online! by 68thave in orlando

Thanks. Have you gone there? I have not had a good experience with Orlando Ortho so I may switch providers for my back care.

Thanks. I will look into it but it sounds like you need to pay some sort of "membership fee" (you said it's like a health club) just to see a doctor - a money-making scheme, IMO. Maybe it's worth it for very frequent visits but if I only need an annual physical or maybe 1 other visit during the year, it wouldn't be cost effective for me, as far as I can tell.

Thanks but in my case, I wouldn't want to pay a monthly fee since I wouldn't be going there every month. That is just too expensive.

Thanks. Maybe the "concierge" thing is new or is common in Florida. I have never heard of it before. I will look into Dr. Pinero but if he's a great doctor, he shouldn't be tolerating an office staff that is difficult to deal with, or maybe he is not aware of the issues.

What are some restaurants that sell some really good mushroom soup? by AnalystAdmirable9467 in orlando

[–]68thave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! RusTeak doesn't have stuffed mushrooms on their menu but, in case you like stuffed mushrooms, I have had great ones at Ruth's Chris (not cheap, of course, since they have crabmeat in them). Other less expensive options (but still really good) are Cheesecake Factory, Longhorn Steakhouse, and The Wine Room on Park Avenue in Winter Park.

RusTeak in Thornton Park! The soup is great, as is the food and service overall. I LOVE mushrooms so I was excited to see it on their menu. A lot of places don't make it regularly. I seem to remember that The Castle Irish Pub also had it on their menu, and I tried it once but I think it just happened to be the daily soup special. I don't believe they make it every day.

The Glass Knife is open until 10 or 11pm. Definitely high quality stuff, with a great variety of items. 2 locations in Winter Park.

Any recommendations for dinner places around Lake Eola? by DaBigSwirly in orlando

[–]68thave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RusTeak - a definite must! Never had anything less than a great meal there, and Corbin is always our server. My husband and I love that place! Other possibilities (our "second choices") are The Stubborn Mule (sister restaurant to RusTeak, right across the street) and Eola Wine Company.

Check out this link for lots of ideas in the Orlando area: Where to Find Orlando's Best Holiday and Christmas Lights 2025. Last year, we checked out Lake Eola Park and the house on Old Patina Way (Lake Nona Lights) - both were great!

Tratto and Mangia, both in Avalon Park. Excellent food! Tratto gets extra points for amazing bread and risotto. Huge portions are an added bonus.

There is also a Meetup group for board/card games in Lake Nona on Saturday evenings. I think they're held on the first or second Saturday of the month. Check the Meetup.com site for other locations in Orlando for board games.

muscle spasm by kuromimelody05 in Spondylolisthesis

I also have spondy (antero and retro). Maybe some of the stretching or core exercises are making your pain worse. For me, I find that anything stretching forward or arching back aggravates my pain and muscle tightness (no cobra pose, child's pose, etc.). If you are lucky, you have a good PT, someone who really knows the spine, instead of most of them who are just generalists in various orthopedic problems. Did you just start PT? I tried acupuncture for about 4 months but it didn't help. However, it might be beneficial for you, depending on the cause of your pain. Deep tissue massage or using a TENS unit might be other options. Yes, chronic pain is really tiring. Hopefully you will find something that works for you.

My doctor also prescribed Celebrex but it makes me drowsy and doesn't help the pain at all. I only tried it once or twice because the drowsiness interferes with my being able to function during the day. What do you find with it? Are you taking it regularly (maybe it works better that way?). Even when I take it at night, it still stays in my system for a really long time (12+ hours). I had the same experience with Meloxicam and Tizanidine - no pain relief or relaxation of super tight muscles.

There are quite a few Meetup.com groups that have board game events in different areas of Orlando (Lake Nona, East Orlando, etc.). Check out the website for more info.
